Life's starting to slowly fall apart around me. I can feel myself slipping. Funny thing about all this? The only thing that's keeping me from going absolutly crazy and giving up on school is getting into Hollins and Kaiser Chiefs. I've never felt so needy about a band. I could even live without the Beatles way back when but I just know that if I don't listen to Kaiser Chiefs I'll start crumbling very very badly. I feel like one of the sad pathetic people on musicsecret. Possibly because I am. :sigh:
Just thought someone out there might like to know how pathetic I am. I surely feel that way.

Oh my poor brain, I feel so bad for it
Umm...I can't think coherantly at the moment so here's what I'm going to say. Just remember: I have my English oral tomorrow and I really don't want to do it and I'm a complete crazy loon. I'm so off my rocker it's not even funny. I have two weeks left of school and as far as I'm concerned I have 2 of my 7 classes over. Nearly have 3. Actually I feel like the whole year is over. So what I'm going to say now completely doesn't correspond with what I just wrote but it's kind of occupying my mind:
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MARRY MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Oh my poor poor brain. If it had a life of it's own I think it would try to escape.
DAMN YOU FATE!!! DAMN YOU FOR KILLING ME!!!!!!!! Umm...
2 weeks till my last day of actual school. 2 weeks yesterday until I finally see Keith in the flesh. Maybe he'll change my mind about the above person. (Get of the stage Jack Johnson. You're feel goody crap makes me sad on the inside.) Oh my loving audience, tell me, do you think I'll make it? I'm starting to wonder. :sigh: Poor me. I do hate going crazy.

Hummingbird (Wilco) {Eric had me listen to this song. I love the way it ends. The instrumentation is just so gorgeous. It's a really quite song which makes for a good excuse to turn up the volume. Really excellent song.)
His goal in life was to be an echo
Riding alone, town after town, toll after toll
A fixed bayonet through the great southwest to forget her
She appears in his dreams
But in his car and in his arms
A dream can mean anything
A cheap sunset on a television set can upset her
But he never could
Remember to remember me
Standing still in your past
Floating fast like a hummingbird
His goal in life was to be an echo
The type of sound that floats around and then back down
Like a feather
But in the deep chrome canyons of the loudest Manhattans
No one could hear him
Or anything
So he slept on a mountain
In a sleeping bag underneath the stars
He would lie awake and count them
And the gray fountain spray of the great Milky Way
Would never let him
Die alone
Remember to remember me
Standing still in your past
Floating fast like a hummingbird
Remember to remember me
Standing still in your past
Floating fast like a hummingbird
A hummingbird

Sing Me Spanish Techno (The New Pornographers) {Sophie had me add this song because she really likes the bit were they sing "Sing me Spanish techno." I like the thing, but I really like "Listenin' too long, to one song." That totally describes me. Another excellent song.}
Don't you know
after picking the glass off the ground
Don't you know
after shaking the thing for a sound
Do we see what the clock makes you do
But I won't let this happen to you
In a town
where I lost every shirt on the fence
Don't you know
I am bleeding a trail through the lens
When I see what I now know is you
I was caught in the eye as you came
Pulled by my name
I'm fallin' through
Traveling at godspeed
over the hills and trails
I have refused my call
pushin' my lazy sails
Into the blue flame
I want to crash here right now
The hourglass spills its sand
if only to punish you
for listenin' too long
to one song
listenin' too long
to one song
Sing me Spanish techno
listenin' too long
to one song
listenin' too long
to one song
Sing me Spanish techno
Don't you know
after wiring the thing to explode
Wired for sound
wide awake here for days in a row
Now we see what the engine can do
And I won't let this happen to you
I won't let this happen to you
No Buses (Arctic Monkeys) {The refrain has some of the most beautiful harmonies I've heard in any recent release. And, per usual, the lyrics are beyond excellent. Alex Turner really does have a way with words. Another, 'nother excellent song.}
Lady, where has your love gone?
I was looking but can't find it anywhere
They always offer when there's loads of love around
But, when you're short of some, it's nowhere to be found
Well, I know your game, you told him yesterday
No chance, you'll get nothin' from me
But now she's there, you're there, everybody's there
He's in turmoil, as puzzled as can be
Just like me
Let's go down, down, low down
Where I know I should not go
Oh and she thinks she's the one
But she's just one in 24
And just 'cause everybody's doin' it
Does that mean that I can, too?
Lady, where has your love gone?
It was the anti-septic to the sore
To hold you by the hand
Must be first, be in demand
How he longs for you to long for him once more
Just once more
Let's go down, down, low down
Where I know I should not go
Oh and she thinks she's the one
But she's just one in 24
And just 'cause everybody's doin' it
Does that mean that I can, too? Oh...
Her eyes went down and cut you up
And there's nothing like a dirty look from
The one you want, or the one you've lost
An ache in your soul is everybody's goal
To get what they can't have
That's why you're after her
And that's why she's after him
But sayin' it wont change a thing
And they'll realise that it wont change a thing
Realise that it wont change a thing
His goal in life was to be an echo
Riding alone, town after town, toll after toll

Crazy Obsessive R Love
This entry, number 14. Should be fairly obvious what I'm talking about. Oh and by the way it's Ricky not Rick. People who call him Rick are lame. Oh and I'm not totally fucked up. Just crazy obsessive. Plus it's a real first. :claps: Hooray insanity!

Movies and Music
Every weekend, mostly on Friday and Saturday, my family and I watch a movie. Usually it's a movie I don't particularly care about and I don't really want to watch it. Sometimes it's a movie I know I like, or at least I get to like it (if I pay attention.) I'm not a film buff like the rest of my family and I can accept that. I know I'll know as much about movies as Sophie or Mums or even Dad but I don't really mind. I know enough good movies that I'm willing to watch more than once and that's really all that matters to me. I have certain standards and I know for the most a good movie from a bad movie. Needless to say I don't have much to say about "film." And that's fine by me.
Music, on the other hand, is an area of great interest to me. I know a lot about music and I listen to some kind of music constantly, be it on my mp3, my computer or in my head. I'm open to lots of different kinds of music. There aren't many genres I won't listen on a wholesale basis. I even like rap to a certain extent (if The Streets count.) I have an opinion on music and I'm not afraid to say it or to disagree with people who I think listen to crappy music. I'll give anyone a fair listen unless of course I have good reason to not (James Blunt for instance. Lots of good reasons to not listen to him.) No I have a lot to say about music. And that's fine by me.
I don't claim to be an expert in anything. I'm too young to be an expert on anything, even myself. I know a lot about subjects including music, history, literature, auditory processing problems, human behavior, math, history, music theory, and Monty Python. I don't like making broad generalities because I know from experience that such things don't work. Even the broadest generality is going to prove wrong somehow, somewhere. What's the old saying? "The exception that proves the rule." I also don't like having great long debates that I know jack about. It bugs me to no end.
So I'll never know that much about movies. Sophie will never know as much about music as I do. We'll always agree to disagree. Sophie will have her opinion and I'll have mine. That's the way it goes. Doesn't make her grand generalities less aggravating or my ignorance less annoying. And although I don't particularly like it, I guess I'll just say it's fine by me.

Comfort Food Music (2)
I listen to the same small clump of musicians, genres, artists, etc. I have a certain amount of variety but for the most part it all could be catogorized the same way: Indie blah blah blah. Yeah Keane may not seem very indie but they're a hell of a lot better than Kelly Clarkson. In any event...I listen to these musicians because they strike a chord with me, through their lyrics, through their music, through the fact that they wear Beatles boots (yay Ricky!), through whatever. And I will defend them to the ground if neccessary. And when people don't appreciate what they've achieved I'm going to get a little pissy. I'm just that obsessed and addicted.
So you know what Sophie? Don't take audience into account, don't take genre into account, don't take marketabiltiy into account all you like but don't you dare act like you know better than me. You gave up on music and I haven't. Sure you "discovered" some indie bands but that doesn't make you some kind of a goddess. You don't know jack about what you're talking about because you just don't care as much as I do. I care about indie music. I listen to the same CDs repeatedly and ya know what? Franz Ferdinand's first album is that inventive. Their second album is lightyears away from their first, but within itself the album isn't all that "exploritory." So don't tell me Tom Chaplin has a limited range. And don't act like you know more.
Feel free to comment and be pissed all who read this

Thursday
KC won another award for "Employment" which brought about pictures, which brought about fangirlish glee and proclaiments of Ricky's amazingness. Read that sentence however you like. All I know is that he has nice fingernails.
I can't believe how quickly this week has gone by. I find it incredible that it's actually Thursday. What happened to this week? I mean honestly, where did this week go? I did get back my SOL English Reading score though. A perfect 600. But as Farber pointed, it doesn't really count for anything. Just a nice pat on the back for old Nore.
In other news we're (as in the band) playing "The Liberty Bell March" aka the opening theme to Monty Python's Flying Circus. I'm ridiculously excited. I've also started work on "Premiere Rhapsodie" in my private clarinet lessons. Also exciting because I love Debussy.
Sam is a good friend. So is Eric. Musical, intellectual, crazy, and smart. A wonderful combination if you ask me. So yeah.
Not much else to report. Have a good Memorial Day Weekend.

God. This is both scary as shit and absolutly hilarious. I am so eternally glad that everything is okay though. Fuck, fuck, fuck. If you want to read what's on the site here's the link. I just can't...God. So unbelievable. Of course we find out two days later. :sigh: Yeah. I'm in a wee bit of shock at the moment. Crazy fangirl that I am.
I got the Raconteurs album and Sondre Lerche's second album, "Two Way Monologue." Both are excellent. Keep my mind off of the other things that I'm not wanting to think about. Oh god...Right. Off to practice my clarinet.

Sondre Lerche
I'm just an updating fiend! Well kind of. Any event here are some lyrics
Sleep on Needles (Sondre Lerche, Faces Down)
Ask me anything you like
I'll reveal everything
I will treasure the truth
You could know anything
I am but a fool to play
Unaware of things
If I treassured the truth
I would tell it to you
I'm coming down to tell you what I know
To say what's real, to let you know
Where I have been and how I've had to...
Sleep on needles
You'll believe you are hard
Sleep on needles
And hear only the truth
Am I likely to succeed
With the way things are?
Judging by your smile
You're holding something back!
I'm sleepless around midnight
There's a change in the wind
The remembrance of things
You used to hold me back!
I come around each time your notes are high
To tear you down, and drag you up
To let you know what's going on while I...
Sleep on needles...
instrumental
And I sleep on needles
You'll believe you are hard

Silver Docs
SOPHIE ROCKS!!! Yeah, cuz Sophs is working on the guest list for Silverdocs. OMG!!! Of course I love "the festival takes place in the Washington suburb of Maryland, America." I guess techically one would say "Maryland, America" it just sounds utterly ridiculous. Anyway, thought I would point out the complete coolness of my sister. Even if she does hate me and locks me out...(oh London, how I miss thee)

Friday Five
This is getting to be something of a habit. Which is kinda nifty, but also somewhat depressing.
1. What type of mood are you generally in on a rainy day?
Tired. My dogs always sleep on rainy days and I'm kind of the same way. If it were up to me I would sleep all rainy days away.
2. What are your favorite things to do when the weather is gloomy?
Sleep. Read. Listen to music. Wait...isn't that like every other day of the week?
3. Have you ever been kissed in the rain?
No, but it sounds so romantic. All the really sappy romantic movies have scenes were the two lovers kiss in the rain. Heck even Spiderman had a scene were MJ and Spidey kiss in the rain. It's obviously the most romantic way to kiss. Or one of many romantic ways to kiss. :sigh:
4. After the rain stops, do you continue what you were doing, or do you run outside to do something else?
Since the rain doesn't really change how I do things to begin, the fact that it's not raining doesn't really change anything either. I just like it better when it's not rainy.
5. What is your favorite drink/food to have when it's raining outside?
I don't have one. Other than make me abnormally tired (or abnormally tired for me) rain doesn't affect me that much. But I always like a diet coke.
Gaah. Of all the things, of all the pictures this person could have chosen, why??? Why Ricky and Nick? I can't look at it for but a moment before I get all giggly. But interesting point...Nick has his eyes closed. Not that that means anything. I'm just super weird. Anyway. Thats all for tonight. A Friday Five and slash. And Eric. Did I mention Eric? Oh yeah...he was looking for me last night after the recital. Oh well...

Senior Recital and Commentary
I'm tired but there are some things I would like to comment on, and more importantly, Broken Boy Soldiers isn't done and I want to finish listening to it. Anyhoo, here are my comments
- Yahoo! finally got Keane's new singles on their database so now I have "Is It Any Wonder?" and "Atlantic." I still absolutely love "Is It Any Wonder?" and "Atlantic" is pretty good as well. I'm looking forward to the rest of the new CD. Very excited in fact.
- I've just discovered Sondre Lechre (and I can spell his name!) and I must say he ranks up there with Alex and Tom as one the best male vocalists I've heard. I'm also incredibly impressed with his writing skills which leads us to the next point...
- I went to the senior recital for strings and chorus and William (who is in strings but does pit in marching band) performed a piece he composed over the last year and a half for the piano and oh my god! He was incredibly impressive. I've only heard really lame student composers and so when he said he had written the piece I was more than a little worried. But the piece was really quite amazing. Definantly better than anything I heard at Stu (please don't hurt me!).
- Eric, my senior friend who plays cello (and the main reason I went to the recital tonight) was also very amazing. I just cannot get over how quickly he moved his fingers over the finger board. He was really, really, impressive.
- I laugh at Panic! At The Disco for loosing their bassist. Hahahahahahaha, losers!

Everything Will Be Alright...
So yeah. I'm going to update now. Hmm lets see...
The rest of my birthday day went really well. The concert was absolutly horrible and I felt fairly carefree about the whole thing. I think I scared some of the middle schoolers though. Oh well they need to be scared in my opinion. As well as join band. Anyway, I got some really cool gifts as well. I have a million books to read (well not a million, but a lot) got some really pretty jewelry which includes the really cool vintage (Nana really emphasized that point) gold (maybe) watch necklace. Its a wind up watch and doesn't keep very good time but it's still really cool. I also got this awsome shirt that says "que sera, sera" all over it. The shirt is red and the background is like navy blue depending on how stretched out it is. All in all I had a very good birthday.
The rest of last week was fairly boring if I remember correctly. We got donuts in band on Friday. Not much else really.
On Saturday I had my birthday party which was absolutly brills. I got three things of chocolate from Sam (one of which I finished this afternoon), a beach towel and frisbee (both green) from Susan, Kurdish bread from Loghman, a book from Sophia and my Ricky shirt from Jackie and Irais as well as some braclets. I'm going to try and remember to take a picture of the shirt before the week is out (hopefully tonight) so everyone can see. It's really quit a b'dwsome shirt.
We (as in me and my guests) watched "The Princess Bride" which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. It was almost nine by the time we finished watching the movie (we started late because everyone showed up late) so after that we watched some Monty Python. Everyone said they had a good time and more importantly I had a really good time. So it was successful.
My math test yesterday went really well. I'm kind of hoping Mr. Sharp will have graded our tests just so I can see how I did. Yesterday was the second time that I answered all the questions and this time I did it without having Mr. Sharp prod me into doing it. I was really happy after that. Also Bach four part chorale writing is the devil. God I hate it so much. Anyway this week has been going well. Everything is pretty okay.

If you knew you were going to die on at specific day at a specific time, (wait, so I'm a witch/wizard?) what's the last...
1. song you would listen to?
Absolute Beginners. Or For No One. Or Modern Way. Or Lost in the Supermarket. Or...

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. No question there.
3. person you would talk to?
I dunno.
4. food you would eat?
Bacon cheeseburger.
5. goal you would accomplish?
Meet all of Kaiser Chiefs.
(Ah Terry Pratchett. How I love thee, let me count the ways...one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand...)

Birthday pt1
Loghman gave me a necklace. The chain is longer than I usually like, but it's from Loghman so I don't really care. Sophs asked if I hugged him. I told her I didn't. I couldn't. I thought about it, but it just didn't seem right. I don't think I could ever hug Loghman. Being that close...I just don't think I could do it. It would be too weird. Nonetheless, Loghman gave me a necklace. It's a very nice one. I asked him were he got it and he said he's just had a really long time. I really like it.
Everybody I know was saying happy birthday to me today. I suspect it's because of the balloons I got from Sophs and Mums. It was really nice though. I don't like being noticed that often, but today was one of those days were I wanted everyone to notice me, so the fact that they did made me feel really special. So yeah. I'm having a good birthday so far.

Friday Five, Cuz I'm Boring
1) Do you like your birth-name? Why?
Yeah I like my birth name. Except when people say Laura instead of Nora. That annoys me. It's a fairly unique name. And as Eric said it rolls off the tongue, you can say it quickly.
2) If you could change your name to anything else, what would it be?
I dunno. Elizabeth maybe. I don't think I would really like to change my name. I use to want to though.
3) What names would you consider giving your children?
Elizabeth. Conor. Ann. Charles (to be called Charlie.) Maria. Zach. Nothing really interesting. I'm such a horrible plain Jane.
4) If you had a band, what would you name it, and why?
I wouldn't be the one naming the band. I can't think of good names. There would be legal issues with anything I think of. I'm not creative about those things.
5) Is there a name that you completely hate? Why?
Mary. I don't like Mary. Or John. Really over used names. And Richard. No good nicknames that don't evoke certain reactions and emotions that aren't inappropriate.
Anyhoo, that's it.

Music Secret
(Inspired by the posts at the livejournal community musicsecret)(please don't hate me or poke fun at me. I'm not half as idiotic as the people who's secrets get posted. At least I like more than one band {Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, The Acadamy Is...}.)
I dream about being with Ricky Wilson. Constantly. It's a bit obsessive actually.
The Killers made me realize how good popular music is, but now I only listen to them once every two months. I think it's because Brandon got married.
I don't like Joy Division. Or the Ramones. Or the Sex Pistols. Or Bloc Party. I know I'm "suppose" to, but I really I am not impressed.
I love the Beatles but I hate John and Paul. They were/are such egotists. They screwed George over and fucked up the band because all they could think about was themselves. I hate them so much for ruining that band.
The majority of what is played on mainstream radio in the States sucks. We may be the 800lb gorilla when it comes to politics, but this country's taste in music for the most part sucks. The UK has it so much better.
OK Go is 10x better than Fall Out Boy. The lyrics in any given OK Go song are 10x more sophsticated than in all of Fall Out Boy's song catalog. Besides, Pete Wentz is such a media whore that he overshadows any good qualities the band might have.
I honestly don't understand why Panic! At the Disco are so popular. I listened to one of their songs and they had a catchy hook and not much else. And the lead singer isn't at all good looking
James Blunt makes my ears bleed. Men should not be allowed to sing in a falsetto. It sucks and sounds horrible. So stop squeezing your balls and wearing tight pants to get those high notes. Freddy Mercury knew when to use and when not to use. I would suggest taking a lesson from his book.
I don't like U2 and I really wish Bono would stop trying to be the great Saviour of the world. In my opinion there's shit he can do until the politicians wake up. I'm fine with you having an opinion but it shouldn't overshadow you're music career. Same goes for Chris Martin.
Coldplay is really incredibly bland.
I absolutely adore Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs. I never want them to become really super famous in the states because I don't want to compete with a bunch of teeny-bopper whores to get up close at concerts. Selfish, yes, but at least I'm being honest about it.
The Arctic Monkeys deserved to be in that top whatever list NME came out with at the beginning of the year. Their lyrics are absolutly amazing and unlike the Beatles, and very much like the Clash, there isn't one stinker on their album.
Alex Kapranos scares me. Nick McCarthey isn't good looking. Paul Thompson isn't good looking. Bob Hardy looks like a little kid. Franz Ferdinand should not be known for their band memebers' "good looks."
I really meant it when I said Alex Kapranos scares me. I see pictures of him and I swear sometimes I think he's going to come out the computer screen and attack me. I love his voice though.
I like the song "Helena" by My Chemical Romance. I really love the video for that song as well. I also like Natasha Bedingfield.
Did I mention the thing about really wanting to screw Ricky? :)

A Non-Specific Outline for my WL paper
(this is going to be an interesting experiment)
Literary device to be shown: Reverse personifiction
Quotes for ADH
HELMER: My little songbird mustn’t droop her wings. What’s this? Is little squirrel sulking?
NORA: I have been performing tricks for you, Torvald. That’s how I’ve survived. You wanted it like that. You and Papa have done me a great wrong. It’s because of you I’ve made nothing of my life.
HELMER: I took my lovely little Capri girl --- my capricious little Capri girl, I might say...
NORA: If a little squirrel were to ask ever so nicely...Please, if only you would let it have its way, and do what it wants, it'd scamper about and do all sorts of marvellous tricks...And the pretty little sky-lark would sing all day long
Quotes for Cyrano
Cyrano: No, In fairy tales
When to the ill-starred Prince the lady says
'I love you!' all his ugliness fades fast—
But I remain the same, up to the last!
Cyrano:Aggressive: 'Sir, if I had such a nose
I'd amputate it!' Friendly: 'When you sup
It must annoy you, dipping in your cup;
You need a drinking-bowl of special shape!'
Descriptive: ''Tis a rock!. . .a peak!. . .a cape!
—A cape, forsooth! 'Tis a peninsular!'
Curious: 'How serves that oblong capsular?
For scissor-sheath? Or pot to hold your ink?'
Gracious: 'You love the little birds, I think?
I see you've managed with a fond research
To find their tiny claws a roomy perch'...I take them from myself all in good part,
But not from any other man that breathes!
CYRANO:
(To Roxane):
That night when 'neath your window Christian spoke
—Under your balcony, you remember? Well!
There was the allegory of my whole life:
I, in the shadow, at the ladder's foot,
While others lightly mount to Love and Fame!
Just! very just! Here on the threshold drear
Of death, I pay my tribute with the rest,
To Moliere's genius,—Christian's fair face!
Structure to the quotes/Similarites between the two plays:
Through the quotes it can be seen how the main characters, and at times the supporting characters, demean themselves to a point where they are no longer humans but carictures of humans (Cyrano) or a completely species altogether (Nora.) In the end though the character is finally allowed to admit to the deeds they have commited while in under the guise of someone less than human. Although they have been considered sub-human for the majority of the play in the final scenes these characters show their inner human strength. The other similarity that can be seen between these two plays is that both characters finally admit to their human actions when they about to the very human future of the uknown, either through death (Cyrano) or by leaving the familiar (Nora.)
oh what fun.
