Wolf Parade

Thus far I'm impressed. They catch your attention and like to hold it. Heavy drums, interesting vocals that sort of thing. Definatly hear the connection between them and Arcade Fire. Hopefully the rest of the cd will prove just as good as Funeral.
:rocks head back and forth: I'm not entirely sure how much I like the lead singer (vocals are kinda grating) but the melodies are damn catchy. I'm enjoying this thus far. Now I will play clicken gold and review as I go.
We Built Another World is spiff. 4 stars (as in the Yahoo! rating system)
Same Ghost Every Night is a real depressing waltz. I just think it's cool that they use a waltz meter. So far, so good.
1) They like ghosts 2) Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts also gets 4 stars for being spiff. They lead singers voice though still bugs me a little. But ya know not everyone is Tom Chaplin or Ricky Wilson. :shrugs: I'm still liking it though.
They're kind of like a more grating depressing version of Arcade Fire. Or an odd mix between Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire. Almost like Interpol in the depressing category. Very indie though. Not a mainstream sound at all. Not bad though, not bad at all.
Short cd. Very suprising actually, I wasn't expecting it to end. I like it. May not be a regular, but it is certainly a good cd. Grandma and Grandpa aren't so bad after all.

House Keeping

Have you ever felt insulted for no apparent reason. Having your room cleaned shouldn't insult you. It's a kind gesture, one less thing you have to worry about. Unless of course you like having your room look like it just got hit by a hurricane because you're fairly certain a) it will end up looking that way eventually and b) you know you'll be able to find everything, even if it takes a little longer (by 5 min maybe.) Most people don't feel that way. I do. My "organizational" system is not having one, having everything I like/would want on the floor even if it involves stepping on some of those things. I know where everything will be and yes it will take me a little longer but at least I will be able to find it. With my things being on the floor, sure there are hazards (such as stepping on a high stiletto heel, which hurts like hell) but it's all there. So yes, even though I shouldn't feel insulted I am. I feel hurt that no one understands the way my brain works, I'm hurt by the fact that my grandmother has been taking behind my back about my room, I'm hurt by the fact no one cares how I feel about this. So yeah. I'm a little different. If you haven't already figured that one out, I don't know what you've been reading. I just kind of miss my big pile of clothing, my big pile of cds on my top bunk and knowing that when I come into my room tomorrow morning, it will still be there, just as I left it. Lord knows I can't count on my memory for remembering anything else (except for the weird things I still remember from 5th grade and such), but I can always count on my inanimate objects to be there. Animate ones are just too tricky.
So I've read most everything I could in the NME yearbook (which I got for Christmas. More on that later.) I've decided a couple of things after reading it. Actually a lot of things, but I'll list the most salient points:
  • Pete Doherty needs some serious rehab and some jail time. (Checks NME website for any news on the sad sod.) Or he needs to just stick is damn resolution. I mean, he's just sad!
  • The Gallaghers are asses. Big fuckin' asses. But I think that if they insult you, it actually means they like you. Unless of course they really think what they say and in that case they're just asses. I would say something else, but I would just feel silly.
  • Arctic Monkeys' debut better be really fuckin' fantastic. Otherwize I will so pissed. I mean really, really times infinity pissed.
  • It's really interesting to read the press from another country insulting (or just pointing out the facts ma'am) your country. Sure I think G. W. Bush is complete twat (there I said it) but it's just kinda interesting to read in a magazine that sort of thing. All the press here is so guarded about insulting the government, that you never read or here that sort of thing. It's all about how crap the prez's policies are, never a direct hit on him. Really though, it's an eye opener (and makes one :me: realize that one :me: is lusting a real person with opinions on things outside of music) to read that Ricky Wilson think that Bush is an idiot. So yeah.
  • I may not seem really cool, but looking through the yearbook I know and/or like a lot of the bands that are mentioned in it. There are the bands that I've never heard of and some that I would like to hear, but there is a large percentage of bands that are mentioned that I know. Makes a person feel spiff. Also makes a person want to move to the UK where the dominant players aren't crap musicians that I don't really like. Basically, if I lived in a different country (the UK) I would be a bit cooler than I am here.
  • If Coldplay weren't so damn bland I would like them completely. They seem like really spiff people.
  • I like how the British curse. Seems less offensive than our cursing. :shrugs:
So there the salient points. All 7. There are many more things that I learned, but those are the most important. Which is what salient means. So there you have it. Another confermation that I need to live somewhere, anywhere in the UK when I grow up. Preferably a major city. But I don't really care.
Terry Pratchett is a god. His books are this (-------) much above D. Adams in the literature scale, but the heart of them is in the exact same place. So now I have 3 favorite authors (or at least 3 that will consistanly be my favorite): D. Adams, J. Barnes, and T. Pratchett. Yay for uncle Bill!! You rock my socks yo!
Hmm...I got a book for Christmas called "Ready? Sex, Go!" According to the back of the book it got really good reviews in the UK. I feel wrong touching it, let alone looking at the cover. My dad calls it the sex book. My sister keeps insisting that my grandparents (my dad's) are really good people and mean well. I just kinda wish they had gotten me the book I wanted instead of this one. Not that they'll ever know.
I would just like to state again how much I love OK Go. And a bunch of other bands, but I'll just mention OK Go. :nods: I <3> :)

24.12.05

Twas the Day Before Christmas

We're listening to King's College lesson of 9 carols. Or something to that extent. Basically we're listening to a Christmas service. A British Christmas service. Anyway, it's lovely per usual.
Dad watched the Kill Bill movies. Now he's critiquing it. Dad is funny that way. He enjoys things and then critiques them. (The reader has a cool accent. I thought you might like to know.) Dad is just kind of funny.
My grandparents are now at my aunt's house. They don't find her annoying I think. Molly (the aunt) is a lot like Nana. Much more so than anyone in my family. (The congregation is "chanting." This rocks!) I'm just glad we're back to normal. (Sophs is critiquing the Lord's Prayer, or at least how the Brits do it. She's strange.)
(Oh how I hate little boys. Oh how I hate them ever so much more than sopranos.)
that's all for now. I'll write more later maybe. No guarantees per usual.

20.12.05

The Frog Prince

Right, so I'm currently avoiding my grandparents and practicing by staying up here in my room. I really hate doing this, but then again I don't want to entertain my grandparents that much and I left my wood clarinet at school and my plastic one (just thought of this) is at school as well. I really can't practice today. I suppose this is what I get for being lazy. Personally I just don't care.
So...my room is a hell hole. I don't really know what to do about it, because it always ends up this way. I can clean it once every week and by the end of the week it will look this way again. I'm such a wreak. Completely disorganized. Fuck I might be getting an organizational tutor if my mum and Dr. Farber ever connect on that. I kind of hope they don't. I already shitty enough, what with math and the possibility of being tested again, so getting a tutor for something that should be (supposedly) innate would just be a great boost to my self esteem (ah sarcasm.) Anyway, as Nana (my grandmother) said, my room is "interesting." Personally she can go fuck herself. Lord, I'm in a crappy mood.
:shakes head: I don't care if it sounds snide, I'm keeping the comments I put in my homework. I think what Mr. Sharp is missing is the fact that I base a lot of what I do on assumptions. What seems logical to me and what is actually true for math seem to be polar opposites, so I think if he understands that he'll see I'm not so crappy at math as my test grades (61 on the last test) would make him think. Me and math just don't think the same way.
Because my sister is evil and an aider: Filter's Top 10 of 2005, Day One: Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs. It's actually quiet funny. I feel bad for the tie Ricky lost though. More than likely it was a very cool tie. In any event, I would also like you to know the frog plushie Jackie got me for Christmas is named Hamilton (Ms. Beauchemin suggested it. Along with some others) Richard (Ricky) Charles (Ricky's first name) Damian (umm...Damian?) Andrew (Andy Ross -->Rusty) Wilson-(my last name, which you don't get to know -_-). I call the frog Ricky. Jackie kept insisting that I kiss him so that in turn he would turn into Ricky. See? Like the Frog Prince. Anyway, that's my day in a nutshell. Sort of. Read the article. It's funny.

I Shoulda Known...Oh here it goes again

Lord I'm tired. This will be quick. I just thought you guys might like to hear about my day. Or what little happened in my day.
So this morning I had Driver's Ed. Boring per usual but that's beside the point. The point is that Amy, one of the annoying girls I think I've mentioned before, got my a Christmas present of sorts. It's one of those cutesy ornaments. A snow man on a sled. Lots of glitter and gooey sappiness. I was really shocked. Not so much at what it was, that was expected, but the fact that she got me something. I don't really try that hard with her, nor do I really consider her a friend, more just an annoyance on even day mornings. Sadly the only thing she's going to get from me is the chocolate I had been planning on keeping for myself. I might make a pretty card, so at least it seems thoughtful. In any event, I was really, really suprised.
For every two paragraphs I think I procrastinated about a half hour. Mind you the paragraphs took me about half an hour as well. So deducing from that information, if I have 4 whole paragraphs and two little paragraphs, it took me about 2 hours to write my english paper. Actually more like an hour and a half. The intro and conclusion probably took me 15 minutes each. Mind you I procrastinated about double the time it took me to write the paper, but still. I don't think I'll tell anybody. I hope it's not too crappy though. I mean it's only a 1st draft, but still. I don't want people thinking it only took me 2 hours. Or I don't want them to be able to tell it took me two hours to write the paper. It took a lot of thought and editing in my head on my part. I could have written a lot more if I had been allowed. Sadly I wasn't allowed, so what I have is what I have. I just hope it's good.
Lord I"m tired. Mmm but Damian is soothing in an odd way. Sure I've listened to Oh No about 3 times today, but I can listen to a hell of a lot more. I think I listened to Hot Fuss for a month nearly straight and that isn't even half as good as Oh No. I'm so mean to the Killers. Uh, but anyway I'll go to bed soon and hopefully get to sleep even sooner. If that made any sense. :shakes head: I need to print out my paper so I can wash my hair tomorrow. Yeah. 'Night then.

M-O-R-N-I-N-G-W-O-O-D (to the Nth Degree)

If I had the lyrics (which I can't find) I would post the lyrics to Crash the Party. Sadly though, I can't find the lyrics so I can't post the lyrics. But I will tell you one thing. I like OK Go. :nods:
Ya know what else I like? Happily Ever After. :nods: So yeah, I didn't think Once Upon a Mattress would be that good. I thought it would be cheesey. I was wrong though. It's a very good musical. :nods: So I declare.
Not much to actually write about tonight. I think Sophs is hopeless, but then again what can I do? Not much would be the correct answer. Otherwize there isn't much to say. A week till Christmas. So freaky that Christmas is actually on Sunday. That like never happens. But anyway. That's it. See ya on the flipside y'all.

I taste like calzone!

What I find so absolutely fascinating about time is how it works. Time doesn't seem to work on the same plane that everyone seems to think it works on. This thing called a minute can go on for years, or it can go by in what is supposedly called a second. Time changes with perspective and so if one constantly changes perspective, time constantly changes. I got on my computer around 3:40ish and it is now almost 5:30. How did that happen? I suppose there's no point trying to figure it out. Time moves in it's own weird patterns of slowness and fastness. I might as well just accept it. I just think it's interesting.
Incase you were wondering (which I'm sure you weren't) my new music honey is from Washington DC. And he graduated from Brown. :nods head: To top it all off, he's a giant. I mean really tall. So yeah. I now offically declare my <3ing of Damian. :nods: I'm crazy.

16.12.05

Last Post of the Day

OMG!! Of course I have Pink is the New Blog to thank. Trent is my honey for silly gossip. Even if he doesn't know it. Needless to say, omg.
In case you're wondering how fantabulous OK Go is, just listen to Crash the Party. I love that song. Now I'll be going to bed in a bit. Think. Listen. Sleep. 'Night.

Appreciation

There are a lot of songs that I love. There are a lot of songs that I like. There are a lot of songs that I'll listen to on repeat and listen to 15, 20 times in a row (Indie Rock and Roll for instance.) Most of these songs fall into one category or another. Pop, rock, indie, fluff, cynical, hypocritical, and some are just not understandable until you listen to them at least 30 times. I love them all for one reason or another, be it the hook, the lyrics or the fact that the whole world seems to want to cover that song, so of course the original is the best (Stuck in the Middle is a good example.) But there is always something and if you give me the time I will tell you, or at least try to tell you, what exactly makes me love a song. It's harder to say why I love a band, but given the time it's not so hard to tell you why I love a song. Sometimes the explanations don’t make sense, but then again I don't always make sense. Sometimes the songs have more of an emotional connection. The songs I love aren't always the most brilliant things in the world (Mama Mia) and sometimes they're horribly complicated (Beethoven's 5th symphony, last movement.) In either instance something made me love that song. So there a lot of songs that I love. There are a lot of songs that I like. And I'll always have the time to explain why. Even if it takes me a little bit.

News Update

Right. So last night I dreamed I got preggies by Paul Smith, lead singer of Maximo Park. The whole dream unto itself was incredibly bizarre, but the most salient, and weirdest fact, was that one. So it's going to be awhile till I'm ready to have anything to do with that band sadly enough. Anyhoo, I think this makes me officially deranged in some respect of some sort. In any event that dream is definatly up there in the weird dreams I'll be able to remember for a good long time list thing.
Nothing much else to report. One math test done, one to go. Finished my annotations for The Stranger. That book is freaky good. Love it. The band concert is a week from Wednesday. I have the rest of this week and monday-thursday next week and then Christmas break. I'm not sure how excited I am, but ah well. Thats it. Back to studying

Shit on a Stick

Fuckity, fuckity, fuckity! I've "lost" (possibly broken) one my favorite CDs!! Shit fuckity. I'm ver, ver upset about this. Losing this just continues my belief that I'm fucking losing my mind!! I'm not in the best of moods right now as you can see.
I've been trying to fight off this piss poor mood (possible depression, wouldn't be surprised) for the past few days now. Unfortunately it's kind of like fighting off a bull with a rubber stick. Or an avalanche with a match. Nearly impossible. Trying to be nice and not scream at my private teachers yesterday was incredibly difficult. Of course Nancy said she'd rather have me yell at her than for me to just sit there and try and control my frustration. Yeah, parents would be too happy though would they? Dad, of course, was no help. Mums was sympathetic as usual, but I'm still trying to fight this with nearly nothing on my side. I guess the important thing is that I'm trying to fight it, not just giving in like I use to. Small comfort, but it's something I suppose.
In my own personal collection I have a shit load of cds. Not as many as mums and dad together, but still I've got a shit load of cds. When was the last time I listened to any of them? Not recently at all. Not that it really matters that much to me. I just think it's weird that I have this many cds.
I think I'll tell mums what I think is going on. She should get to know.
Edit: I found the cd. It was under my bed. Yay for disorginization aka entropy. I embody entropy. Really.

7.12.05

5 months 1 day

Okay. So yeah. I hope this true. Two Days!! Before May 10th!! So see the top story for December 7th? The one that says according to HMV.co.uk Keane is going to release new cd May 8th???? Yeah so wouldn't that be cool!!! I mean, if they release in UK on the 8th, that means it will be released on the 9th in US, which means it will be released in the States the day before my b-day. That would so super wicked awsome!!! God...I hope it turns out to be true. That would totally rock!!
So I'm going to bed now. I'm tired and what not, so yeah. Beddie-boo for Nore. See y'all later. Oh and pray/hope for snow tomorrow night!! I totally want there to be no school on Friday. That would be wicked cool. Ay. Sleepy time for me.

Harajuku Girls

Just because they're so damn awsome. What You Waiting For/White Wedding. Download. Be fuckin' amazed at how good Alex and the boys are. Question the sanity of musicians/rock stars. Wonder why they chose this song above...something else. Question Nore's sanity for loving this song so much now. Wonder why she laughs at the transition between Qwen and White Wedding. Dear Lord I love these boys!!!
That's all the news for the moment. I have a history test to study for. Yay!

Hmmm

"So lets take a loan and put it down
On a house in a place we've never lived
In a place that exists
In the pages of scripts and in songs that they sing"

-- Rilo Kiley "I Never"
I'm bored out of my frickin' mind and don't want to practice yet. I could work on my physics carol, but I don't really want to do that either. So I'm stuck here waiting for Hopes and Fears to be done (not that it's such torture) hopelessly bored.
It snowed yesterday and last night. We had a two hour delay this morning which was nice. I listened to the Killers in honor of the snow. I thought it was befitting. Seems rather silly, but then again I'm a rather silly person. I've also figured out that no matter what shoes I wear, my feet will always be cold if I walk home. Mind you, from where the bus drops me off to my house is like a 2 or 3 minute walk, but still. One's feet can still get cold. I like the snow though. It's very pretty and all that.
My green nails are gone. Per usual I chipped them off earlier today. I don't know why I even bother painting them. Seems absolutly pointless. One way or another my nails always go back to their original color in a day or two. But at least they were green for a little while.
Lets see, what else is there to talk about? :shakes head: Not much honestly. The days go by and nothing terribly exciting happens. I did find out Mr. Vagts has read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy multiple times, which made me feel better about having read it twice thus far. I plan on rereading it sometime later this year (school year I mean.) Otherwize not much happened today. I missed Jackie. Going to have to complain to her tomorrow. Yay.

Green Nails, White Hairs

I'm listening to a new mix that I made minutes ago. I've seemed to have picked some more relaxed songs to start off with. I rarely remember what these songs sound like because most of the time I haven't listened to them in awhile. Now the Futureheads are picking up the pace. What a suprise.
I forget why, but Angel was looking at my hair and noticed my white hairs. He asked if I was that stressed out. I suppose I am. I've always had a few white hairs, barely noticable, always hidden. Now they've popped in my bangs so they are slightly most noticable. Especially to me. I'm vain in some ways especially with these white hairs. I've known for ages that I would go gray early, but it just seems to me that having half a dozen or so white hairs at 17 is a little early. I hate to seem so vain, but it really does bother me.
I've finally found my green nail polish. It was under the powder room sink. Odd place, but at least I've found it. I now have brightish green nails. Offically the color is "envy." I remember when I got it as well, which is rather scary. Wednesday night "fun-run" to Wally World. 8th grade. Towards the end of the year I think. The Wally World make-up section was always my haunt. I loved buying cheap-o make up. In some weird way it made me feel better. If I got the latest colors and the latest thing to get rid of pimples, I would be beautiful. Nail polish that I would chip off in a day made my hands look nice. Not that any of it helped in reality. I still have pimples. I don't wear make-up that often anymore. Mostly just mascara now. All that money, all the make-up wasted. I suppose it doesn't really matter. Maybe.
My hands are so dried out. Morningwood has the pace in an uptick. I suppose this mix isn't so down as I thought it might be. Certainly is a longer mix. :sigh: Why do Sunday's have to be so boring?

3.12.05

Fangirl

This was said by a lj user at the Brandon Flowers "God We're All So Obsessed" community. It pretty much sums up everything having to do with looks and male rockstars.
no..it doesnt really matter if HE likes it...its all about if WE like it
:)
--- "iheartbrandon"
Yeah, pretty much sums up the "Ricky needs to shave" petition, the non-exsistant "Ricky needs to grow out his hair" petition and the non-exsistant "Brandon needs to shave majorly" petition. Everything is about us. Everything.

Old Lady Eyes

On Wednesday I got my eyes checked. Seems I'm going blinder each year. It also seems that because I'm going blinder each year my eyes can't compensate up close. Which means I got readers on Wednesday. I'm getting a spiffy pair to keep in my purse for school and then another spiffy pair for around the house. And it's all my dad's fault.
Went out driving today. I must say, Dad can be incredibly annoying at times. I know it was my first time out on a major road (Sunrise Valley drive) but I wasn't totally fucking up. Besides, people pass the "stop" line all the time. I won't fail my driving test if I do that. God. Anyway, it was kind of fun being out on a real road. Glade is great and everything, but actually going faster than 35mph was fun. Fast is fun. I just know I will eventually get a ticket for speeding. :shakes head: So horrible.
I would tell y'all about how frustrating life is and how fucking annoying my parents can be, but I think that would be pointless. Junior year is a hard year and as much as it hasn't been going that badly for me, that doesn't mean it isn't going to be stressful. For some reason though my parents don't seem to get that. My Dad tried to talk to me about it last night. Such bullshit. First of all he doesn't know what the hell is going on in my life and secondly I don't prescribe to his method of stress reduction. Balling up my feelings into a neat package and hiding it somewhere in my heart doesn't work for me. Screaming, yelling, singing loudly, punching things, that's what works for me. I need to release the tension, not try and hide it. Then there's my mum telling me I have to keep everything in order, keep on task. I'm trying, but not every week is going to be great. In fact there's a chance that some weeks will be pretty shitty. I just keep thinking about Brad. One of the smartest, laziest people I know. Mind you he over-books himself and has like fifty activities, but he's constantly having mini-melt downs. Loghman tries to hide the fact that he's going to explode, but I can see it in his eyes, the way he acts. IB classes are a bitch no matter how smart you are. I'm not alone in my stress. My way of dealing with it is just one on a variation of ways. :looks at what she's written: So much for not talking about this stuff.
I would like to present a mix that I made up a little while ago. I've been listening to it almost non-stop, so I think it's pretty spiff. Here ya go:
  1. Woman's Realm --- Belle and Sebastian
  2. Rebellion (Lies) --- Arcade Fire
  3. A Million Ways --- OK Go
  4. Tonight Let's Dance --- Elefant
  5. I'll Fly Away --- Kanye West
  6. Indie Rock and Roll --- The Killers
  7. Trying Not To Think About Time --- The Futureheads
  8. Take My Temperature --- Kaiser Chiefs
  9. A19 --- Maximo Park
  10. You Say You Lie --- The Raveonettes
  11. You're Just a Baby --- Belle and Sebastian
  12. Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid --- Elefant
  13. When the Cows Come Home --- Blur
That's what I've been listening to for a week or so. Pretty spiff, ey?

Gaah. Why must he be so much older than me?? Fook.
Anyhoo....this (<---) is Ricky at 19. In 1997. I was in fookin' second grade in 1997. Gaaah. In any event. I would like to thank lj godess picture finder extraordinare "heathaaaah." She brings joy to 99 or more people joy almost everyday by posting lovely, lovely pictures of the guy to the left. Yeah, she rocks my socks.

My Sermon

I have no physical disabilities, but I've been through some pretty rough patches in my life. When I was younger I found it hard to believe in a God that would allow slavery and war. Today I find it hard for people with physical disabilities to believe in a God that would allow that to happen. I have mixed beliefs when it comes to God and a lot of what Christianity teaches. Today's reading was from Isaiah. It stated that we are God's clay and that he is the potter. In the Messiah the choir sings "and we, like sheep." I can't believe in that. I can't follow like a sheep. I won't give into a doctrine just because a disciple from some century long ago says to. I'm never going to heaven so I'm not going to try and be someone I'm not. Religion. By trying to fit people into one belief, something that is meant to bring peace to people's lives is probably one of the most controversial subjects in the human lexicon. Just a thought.

Nothing Better

Since I have absolutly nothing better to do at the moment I'm going to spout off whatever comes to my head. It's either that or playing Clicken Gold. Quite frankly I've imposed so many "rules" on myself to make that game interesting, this seems like a much better alternative. Plus it's good to write. Writing is important.
I have tons of songs on my mp3. I have lots of CDs on my mp3. So with all these choices one would think I would have a lot of different things I listen to. Well, one would be wrong if one thought that. Frankly I find it "hard" enough to choose between the limited CDs that I do listen to, it would be nearly impossible for me to choose out of the whole thing. So what is that I listen to? Pretty standard stuff actually. FF, t'Chiefs, Killers (occasionally, when I feel bad about not listening to them in a really long time), Rilo Kiley, the Darkness (yes, I've gotten over the falsetto), Maximo Park, Keane and thats really it. I listen to indivual songs on occasion but mostly I just listen to those bands. I've been listening to OK Go, but thats not on my mp3 (yet.) Interesting thing is, I repeatedly listen to the same things. It's actually been quite awhile since I've listened to Keane relatively speaking. Maybe a week? Anyway, despite all the choice I have, I'm very narrow minded. Then again, is that such an awful thing?
I think I'm going to start carrying around two sodas in my backpack. I'm such a total caffeine addict it's not even funny. Thing is, I'm a very slow drinker. I started drinking my current soda at about 10 to 5 and right now it's about 6:15. Thats over an hour to drink one 12floz soda. On the other hand if I don't get enough caffeine I get headaches. Well...not really. I guess I don't have to carry around sodas. Or maybe just one. I need something to keep me awake during the second half of the school day. Poor Mrs. Kirby rarely ever sees me very awake. Then again neither does Mr. Sharp. Math is completely different though. I'm just concentrating really hard. :sigh:
Ya know what I find very interesting? The fact that neither Tom nor Alex are terribly attractive despite the fact that they have just wonderful voices. Ricky and Brandon on the other hand are attractive but their voices, in my opinion, aren't as good as Tom or Alex's. But I suppose looks and vocal quality are subjective. What I think isn't neccesarily what you or someone else thinks. In fact I feel like I'm in a bit of a minority, especially with Alex. I'm always somewhat suprised when people talk about Alex's good looks. I think his new hairdo is much better than his old one, but really there are few good photos of the man in my opinion. This isn't to say that Ricky only takes gorgeous photos, it just seems to me that Ricky is better looking than Alex. Vocals though, it's the opposite. Oy, I think I'm repeating myself. Hopefully you get the point.
Franz Ferdinand's second CD is definatly a step up from the first but I still really like what they do on the first CD. The music is particularly sophsticated, but compared to what some bands to do, it's very different and sophsticated comparatively speaking. "Ich heisse super fantastiche!" That line will never be beat. Except maybe by "I want a car." Man, This Boy is such an awsome song. Save, You Could Have it So Much Better and Fade Together there ain't a dud on that CD. Except, ya know, for the ones that I said. And those two songs aren't bad, they just aren't as good as the other ones. I would say Do You Want To but there's a certain charm to that song that the former songs just don't have. I like them, but...eh. Nonetheless, both CDs are excellent. :shakes head: Just scary.
My one fear is that t'Chiefs, Keane, and the Killer's second albums won't be good as their first. What Franz Ferdinand was pretty remarkable compared to a lot of bands. I mean, the phrase "sophmore slump" exsist for a reason. Most band's second albums are either a repeat of the first, or not as good as the first. Either that or the second album is just way too different from the first. That happens too. Anyway, I hope that, that doesn't happen with my bands. I hope they all have the success that Franzie poo has had.
Well, the CD is almost done so I think I'll finish this off now. See ya later.

She's Got the Devil in Her Heart

Everytime mums takes a picture of Rosie with flash, Rosie gets these awful red eyes that are just nearly impossible to fix. Mums has been able to do it most of the time, but with this picture, Rosie's eyes are just too red. Rosie though is the sweetest little woof. Always expecting something exciting to happen. This picture was taken outside of mes parents room. One would suspect that Toaster (a nickname) was probably waiting for either dad to do something, or mums to get ready for a walk. She's such a little sweet dog. Anyway, I thought you guys might like to see that.

Christmas List

As much as it scares, I have to start thinking about Christmas. I have to make a list so that my relatives know what to get me. Honestly I don't trust them to get what I actually want. Last year my dad's parents got me this strange recording of Oklahoma! that had the Brady Bunch mom as Laurie. So yeah, considering what I want, don't trust them at all. This stuff ain't mainstream. Well, it kind of is. I'm not that cool. Anyway, it's mostly cds. God...I can't believe it's almost December. So scary.

  • Arcade Fire -- Rebellion (Lies)
  • Belle and Sebastian -- ummm....all of it?
  • Blur -- ditto
  • OK Go -- Oh No (and maybe their first cd...not sure)
  • Elefant -- Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid (boo ya! Loves that title)
  • The Futureheads -- Self Titled
  • Keane -- Strangers (actually this one's a docu. I would really like this one)
  • Kaiser Chiefs -- Enjoyment (docu again. Oh and I would like...)
  • Franz Ferdinand -- their docu (everyone has one! everyone needs one)
There are some books, but I've already told mums about them and I can't remember their titles. I'm just that good. :suddenly feels a bit selfish: Hmmm...I don't have any money to give!! I guess I'll just have to give hugs.
In other worlds, I've decided I have no life. I've spent most of the day not doing a damn thing. Literally. Not a damn thing. So sad. Oh well, I'm a bit busier tomorrow. What with my clarinet lesson at two. :sigh: I don't want to read The Stranger!! And can you blame me? I think not. So there ya go. Life in the fast lane mes petites.

Into the Cavern

Seems the Rickster has cut of his hair a bit. :shrugs: He's still so damn sexy it hurts my heart. :shrugs: People make too much of rockstars. Me included.
I was watching my mum unstuff the turkey this afternoon. I thought about what use to be in there. I felt bad for a bit but then I rememberd that 1) I have to eat meat because I won't eat beans and 2) The turkey is dead. It was going to die. The circle of life continues on.
I'm so freakin' tired. I think I'll go to bed soon. Another early night for Nore. I like sleeping, so sue me. I'm a teenager. An extremely abnormal teen. In fact my name is Abby Normal. :waits: :waits a bit longer: Okay, if you didn't get the joke you never will. Or, well, one day you will. Maybe. Uh. So tired.
In case y'all were wondering, OK Go is an okay band. I like them. Oh No is a rather good album. So yeah, go download it or buy it or whatever. I recommend it!
Not much else to report. Had a good Thanksgiving. Not looking forward to tomorrow. Stupid Holiday Parade. I don't know if I can do it though. I stupidly forgot my plastic clarinet at school and there's no fuckin' way I can march my wood clarinet. The poor thing would crack in two in the cold and stuff. We'll see. Sort of. So goodnight guys. I'll try and be more interesting this weekend.

Thunder Thighs/Thundering Voice

I have huge thighs. I can't wear skirts or tight pants because they are so big. Mums say I don't, but she's lying through her teeth. I have huge thighs.
On the other hand I have a huge voice. When I sing loudly or even talk loudly I can pretty much fill up the space I'm in. I'm not a soprano but neither was Patsy Cline or Ella Fitzgerald. I'm in good company.
I do have pimples. And scars from past pimples. I have red splotches all over my forehead. I constantly worry them because I'm so stressed. It feels like there's little I can do about the cause or the effect. I'm kinda SOL in that area.
Of course this year is going comparatively well for me. Good grades, happy social life, no parental problems (for the most part.) I'm not hiding things like I did last year which means that around report card time I'm sleeping better than I did last year. So actually this year is going really well for me.
Then there's my gut. It's changes between slightly lumpy to "I'm wearing a sweatshirt, again" big. Last night I was looking in the mirror and started bouncing up and down. Yeah it start giggling. At least my pants still fit.
I have friends. 'Nough said.
Men (some men) are afraid of me. Or at least they don't consider me "girlfriend" material. I assume this because no one has asked me out. I know guys. I don't know. Men and romance confuse to some extent. For all my dreaming (and wishing and hoping) I've got nothing to show. I'm no one's arm candy. I've never been kissed. Am I too smart? Too tall? Not pretty enough? To out spoken? What the hell is wrong with me???? I'm nice. I've got more patient with men. I talk to them. What the hell did I do wrong??
So I have low self esteem when it comes to my body. My self esteem has never been very high anyway. Just gotten worse with all the failing and near failing grades I've gotten. I've been hovering around 175lbs for a year now. I may be 5'10" but I've still got a belly. And those thunder thighs.

Not Much

Top of the Pops. Popworld. The Ed SullivanShow. Think about it. Just think.
:nods head: Yup thats all I've got to say. They have those shows and we got...we had him. :nods:
:sigh: I really don't have much to talk about. The day was somewhat boring and I haven't really done anything much since I got home. Turkey day in two days. :nods: Slow news day my friends, slow news day.

The Darkness

"I believe in a thing called love" and then he sings higher than me. I know I could really like this band. I just get incredibly pissy/jealous everytime I listen to them because they're lead singer can sing higher than me. And he's a fuckin' guy. That's not fair!!! He shouldn't be allowed to sing higher than me!!! Anyway, if it weren't for that I could really like the Darkness.
Entertainment Weekly is so late. In this week's issue they list 6 Indie Brit Bands On the Cusp. I know every single one except the Noisettes. I just laughed. In case you're wondering who these bands are they are : Arctic Monkeys, Nine Black Alps, The Rakes, The Editors, and Art Brut. On the next page in the Download This section they mention the new Darkness single. Again twenty years behind. :hides behind Fake DIY and NME: I'm not a hypocrite. I swear 0_0

100th Post

I live in a town called Reston. I go to the local high school and have small group of people I consider friends. I'm band and play the clarinet. I find that most of my teachers are pretty cool with the exception of my band teacher. He's a complete and utter flake. I live about 1/2 an hour away from Washington D.C. on route 66. I lived in DC for the first 8 years of my life and have been to almost all the museums at least twice. I've been to the monuments at least once or have driven/walked past them multiple times. I learned how to ride my bike in the "back yard" of the Supreme Court. I was 5 minutes from the Mall, so I watched the fireworks there almost every 4th of July. My Dad is a corporate lawyer and once worked for MCI. He now works for Patton/Boggs which no one outside of the lawyer world will probably have heard of. My Mums and Dad met at law school. Mums is a stay at home mom currently taking graduate classes in special education. Sophs, my sister, is two years older than me and annoys the crap out of me every once in awhile. We have very similar tastes in music. She's not so bad really. My family use to have a cat named Sadie who didn't like anyone save my dad. She especially did not like Sophs. She died when I was in 5th grade shortly after we got our first dog Nikki. We have two dogs, Nikki and Rosie. They think they're fierce but they aren't.
Reston is a suburb of DC and it seems to me that almost nothing interesting happens. There isn't a lot that happens in DC either except for the politics. Not a lot of rock musicians come to DC. Mostly they go to some of the bigger venues in Maryland or Virginia. In any event, they're never very close and Sophs has to want to go because I don't have my license yet. Another thing I've noticed is that rock musicians usually only play one night and then move on. Granted the USA is a pretty big country, but still. I think the only thing that happens in this part of the country are plays I can't/don't want to go to or a new art exhibit. Plus all the politics.
I'm a brit-pop junkie with a more eclectic taste than some would think. I grew up listening to oldies, jazz, classical, and whatever else my parents played around me. I've been singing since I knew how and except for the last year have been some sort of choir/chorus since I was very little. As for books my two favorite authors are Douglas Adams and Julian Barnes. I've read a lot since I learned how to read, which is actually pretty amazing. I taught myself how to read, without phonetics, which is a pretty major accomplishment. Haven't beat that one yet. I'm a fast reader just like my Dad, my grandfather and my mom's older sister. I just wish I had more time to read.
That's my life for the most part. Not a lot happens to me that I think is particularly interesting, or that someone else might deem as interesting. I keep a journal to insure that I don't go insane and to prove that I'm crazy. This is my 100th post. I'm pretty proud of that

How To Be A Great Lead Singer (or just the requirements)

  1. Must have a "lead singer" voice (Think George Harrison v. Paul McCartney, or Dave Grohl v. Kirk Cobaine)
  2. Must have stage presence (Think Dave Grohl or Ricky Wilson or Paul Smith, or Tom Chaplin. Don't think of Brandon Flowers)
  3. Must be willing to be mouth piece for the band (Think Alex Kapranos or Ricky Wilson or Brandon Flowers)
  4. Should be reasonably good looking (Think Ricky Wilson v. Lead singer of Louis XIV. Which do you like better?)
  5. Needs to be able to write music, or help with writing music ( Ricky, Alex, Brandon, Paul S, Dave, Rivers, Tom, Jenny, Steve, Paul Macca, John...)
  6. Should be able to play an instrument (cowbell counts too)
  7. Must be photogenic (even if only moderatly good looking, like Alex, Tom, or Dave)
  8. Must have a certain amount of humility (Ricky, Alex, Paul S. Not Brandon)
  9. Needs to be witty (Alex is an excellent example, as is Paul S and John)
  10. Should be able to make girls and/or boys swoon at the drop of a pin (Ricky, Alex, Brandon, Paul Macca)
So thats what I say. Here's a list of the full names and bands of the examples I gave. You should know this by now, but I'm feeling generous today (and I like using the little list thingy):
  • The Beatles (Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison)
  • Franz Ferdinand (Alex Kapranos {whose last name I can spell without looking})
  • Foo Fighters (Dave "I use to live in N. Virginia because I rock" Grohl)
  • Hot Hot Heat (Steve "I have a fro, but I'm not black" Bays)
  • Kaiser Chiefs (Ricky "Charles Richard" Wilson)
  • Keane (Tom "I once wore purple pants" Chaplin)
  • The Killers (Brandon "I'm married and extremely hot" Flowers)
  • Maximo Park (Paul "I'm super flexible" Smith)
  • Nirvana (Kirk "I brought rock back and ended hair metal" Cobaine)
  • Rilo Kiley (Jenny "I can sing your whole outfit off" Lewis)
Your's Nore "I wish I were as cool as half the people on the above list" No Last Name For You!

Breakfast

Today something amazing happened. Something happened that has never happened to me before. I got on the 3.5 honor roll. Which means I get to go to a cool breakfast thing. It also means that I have my mp3 back. But just the fact that I somehow have a 3.5 gpa makes me happy. Now for something completely different:

B-SIDES!!! For the KCs
People Need Light: And now we start wondering whether there's something in their collective beer. Think Beatles sampling and reasons for people needing light. So strange, they must have been high.
Moon: Considering how little I can understand, I think this is a love song of sorts. "The tide belongs to the moon, and I belong to you." I think. Anyway, not as weird as People need light.
Seventeen Cups: Cups mean tea. I can't understand whats being said. I hate that. I like the sound though. Tis pretty.
The Letter Song: Love song. Acoustic guitar. Tambourine. Piano. Beatles feel. I love.
Brightest Star: Yummy. Ricky sounds odd. Kinda think it's not him, but it could be. "With an upstairs lounge I'll be rid of you"!!! 'Nother good one.
Not Suprised: Okay, so People Need Light is the really oddity. Everything else is perfect. yay.
Not much else to report. Most of the day was spent inwardly celebrating my exciting news and coughing up my lungs and/or blowing my nose. So yay for me!

Entry #2 for 15/11/05 (ooh european dating)

I don't actually take notes during physics for the most part. The same goes for english. Sometimes with math. When I'm not taking notes I write fairly random things. Today I had fun with glue, a popsicle stick, and sheer boredom during physics. Sometimes though I write pretty poetry. Like the depressing poem I posted a little while back. Problem is, when you have 3 notebooks and no clue where to find the pretty poem, one could get a bit frustrated. So I'm going to find this pretty poem and post it. I'll be back in a few minutes to do that.
:a bit later: Damn, damn, damn. I threw it away. Damn. Damn. Damn.
Would you consider Employment a particularly happy LP? I'll admit the tunes can be cheery sounding, but does that a "happy" album make? I think not. The lyrics for every song save Saturday Night is depressing to one extent or another. I could say Saturday Night is slightly depressing, but I don't want to. I'm already catagorizing two of my favorite songs on the LP depressing already, no need to have it be three. I suppose people just don't listen to the lyrics. I believe one should do that, otherwize you loose half the picture. Hmmm.
I don't want to finish my homework. I know I need to, but I don't want to. I hate conclusions and I hate what we're doing in english. I guess I'll just have to finish it later. Stay up late. Oh well.

Crap On You

So I'm not feeling any better. My cold as become a chest thing, so now my chest hurts and I can't really talk. My life sucks.
For the first time since I became a South Lakes Seahawk, I was tardy for a class. omg. Rather impressive if you ask me, but whatever. Hopefully I'll continue my streak of on timeness and not be tardy again for a long time. Oh I'm pathetic.
Not much else happening here. This whole sick thing sucks. And I really don't want my report card. Thus far I surmise that I have 2 Bs, 4 As and an unknown grade in math. Thats the part that scares the crap out of me. I don't like being able to tell what my grade is in a class. So scary. :quivers: I hate report cards.
So I'm procrastinating. Tis fun. I'll just be sick and all that cool stuff. Oh I think I've stopped making sense! Ta then.

13.11.05

There's something in my throat, and it's weird

You know what scares me? Men who can sing higher than me. Falsetto is the devil. Along with some other things I'm sure I've mentioned before. Anyway, that's a big reason for why I don't like the Darkness. Their lead singer can sing higher than me. And he does it through the whole CD. Really creeps the shit out of me. Kind of like opera singers and baritones. Some voices just creep me out.
In other news I'm still sick. And I'm procrastinating. Have been for almost two hours now. I'll get it done though. I usually do.
I've decided that it's better to admit that I'm bitter than to try and hide the fact. I'M BITTER! That's right, I'm very bitter. You know why? Because I'm silly. I'm bitter over something completely superfluous. I'm bitter over the fact that I can't see my bands in concert. I realize that I've said this a million times before, but I'm just realizing how absolutly silly it must sound to all of you. Oh well. I'm strange and silly. But yes, I am bitter.

12.11.05

I Am The New Sick

I continuely put myself in situations that continuely show me how glad I am I decided not to be a muscian. Unfortunatly I didn't get to finish that experience because I'm sick. Mind you I'm sure everybody around me is quite glad I'm not there. I would be a miserable stand partner. Ugh I feel like shit.
In any event I thought you might like to know that I'm sick. That is all.

I'm Not Happy, I Swear

I think thats a song. By My Chemical Romance. Oh well. Yay plagerism!!!

A Depressive Poem for November 9, 2005

And if I could fly/I would leave this place/Make a new me/Someone ne I would like to be
Disappear in the crowd/Where no one would notice/Forget who I was/A chameleon camoflouge
So it would go/I would no longer be/Exsist the same as Holden/Only in the mind
Oh if I could fly/I would surely disappear/No longer to be seen/Completely utterly free

Booya bitch. Today is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap

Mush For Brains

Today feels like a monday. I know it isn't a monday, but it feels like a monday.
I've just properly waken (woken?) up. It's 3:09 pm and I've just woken up. Sad. I think it's the music though. Maybe not. I don't really care. I just don't give a flying fuck about anything today.
My sister is coming home today. Her counselor thought it would be dangerous for her if she stayed at college. Like suicide dangerous. Thing is, I'm angry. Not so much at her but at the whole shittyness of the situation. Why should she get to come home? I never got to come home. I stayed at Stu stuffing myself till I couldn't feel, trying to explain to myself some good reason why I was doing this, so when my parents asked I would have a semi-reasonable explanation. I was depressed so often it was fucking miracle when I felt happy. Did I get to come home? Skip classes? No, because I'm not in college. All those times when my window seemed like a welcome option to sheer apathetic-ness of my life, I stayed. Never got the chance because I was 15/16 and only in 8th/9th grade. Once you're an adult you get to give up. Finally after all the struggling and hardship at 18/19 you can say "Fuck you, I'm quitting." But not till then. No, till then you have to suck it up, go on meds, talk to a therapist. Can't quit. Fucking hypocrisy if you ask me.
I'm in such a foul mood today. Math and it's goddamn idiosyncrasies, Mr. Louie and his inablitity to make physics even a little bit interesting, health and all that means. Really wish we had come back on a blue day. Then I wouldn't be so pissed and bitchy. Just want to scream at the sky today.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:Bounce:

:bounce, bounce: What is it about All-American Rejects that makes me think of 8th grade? Strange stuff yo.
Oh Benny Folds-poo. You make the piano ever so much more glorious than you know. Keane makes it all ballad, and you dearest make it all rock.
I'm a wee bit hyper. Ya know why? Cuz I got like 15 bagillion hours of sleep and I have no school.
Ya know whats super, super cool? Mr. Vagts listening to London Calling and Mr. Louie listening to Weezer. Booya bitch. My teachers are shiznit.
:bounce, bounce: I'm so friggin bored!!!!!!!!

Rilo Kiley

Alright, I would like to clarify something I said yesterday. When I said "Wonder why it is that no one questions there sexuality" what I mean is the following: Male pop singers sometimes have their sexuality questioned. Actors at times have their sexuality questioned. Musical theater guys have their sexuality questioned at times. So why is it that rock band guys rarely have their sexuality questioned? Mind you the comment was somewhat random given the context, but my mind works oddly so it made sense to me when I wrote it. I just want you to know that I'm not questioning anyone's sexuality. I love me some rock guys, so despite the eyeliner and dandy clothing, I heartly believe they are all hetero. Especially Ricky. Even if Jackie doesn't think so, cuz she's crazy. :nods:
So yeah, Rilo Kiley. Pretty spiff stuff they have in that there band. Portion For Foxes, tres spiff. In fact, of the three songs I downloaded (yay for Yahoo! Music Unlimited!!!) there isn't a one that I don't like. Which is pretty spiff. In fact very, very, tres, tres, :tries to say very in spanish twice: cool. I like me some Rilo Kiley.
Oh and Razorlight! The lead singer may look odd, but I like his voice, and the songs build in a nice rock song way. Somewhat predictable, but overall very nice. So there, now it's just 10 bands. Actually, no. I listened to the Von Bondies. They were okay. I've decided that I'm more of a rock-pop kind of person. Vaguely indie as I said yesterday. Also have some Raveonettes. I liked, but not sure I would by the cd. We'll see. Thats it. 4 bands down, 8 bands to go.
Thats it mes petites. I've got a semi-long week ahead. Two days of school, an audition and then GMU Honor Band stuff. Sure I miss a day of school, but I'm going to be in intense practice mode. My head will explode at the end of Friday. And again on Saturday. I'm so excited.

Make Up Work

Click here. Click on "A Million Ways" Dance linky-poo for whatever you need. Watch. Laugh and be amused. Be amazed at Nore's amazing taste in music. Or not. The last one's optional.
Then go watch "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy. Be amazed that these kind of dorks ever make it into the music scene. Wonder why it is that no one questions there sexuality. Laugh at the lead singer's silly mutton chop-esque side burns.
Finally, ponder over why it has taken Nore so damn long to figure out that when people say "hey you might like this" they actually mean it. And that it has taken the same person so damn long to figure out that not all music is crap. Especially when it's vaguely indie. Yeah.

Bands That I Still Need To Listen To
  1. Fiery Furnaces
  2. Snow Patrol
  3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs (for serious, not mockingly)
  4. The Von Bondies
  5. Razorlight
  6. Elefant
  7. The Walkmen
  8. The Stills
  9. The Raveonettes
  10. The Kills
  11. Rooney
  12. Rilo Kiley
I know it seems like a lot, but really it's not. Actually it is, but I'm trying not to be amazed at how thick I can be. I mean, shit! 12 f-ing bands. 12!!!! Shit.
I'm making up for years of neglect. All these bands. All this music. I'm trying my damndest to make up for it. It just amazes me how many there are. Eventually I'll listen to them all. Eventually.

A Letter

Dear Franz Ferdinand, Hot Hot Heat, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Killers, and Maximo Park,
Please send me sheet music of every song you've ever released. I need this to complete a thorough analysis of the music. You see listening just isn't good enough. I need to know every chord and figure out every layer. One cannot figure out the chord progression if one cannot see the notes. I would truely appreciate it if you could send that to me. Thank you very much.
From a Devoted Fan

I wish. God I wish I could do that. That would just be so awsome. That analysis would be so cool. Oh man. I wish

Never Stop

(And now for those profound thoughts I was talking about)
Never stop believing in fairy tales
Never stop waiting for true love
Never stop hoping for miracles
Never stop being optimistic
Never stop singing in the shower
Never stop being starstruck
Never stop listening for Santa
Never stop dreaming
Never stop hoping
Never stop believing
Never stop being true
Never stop looking
Never stop fantasizing
Never stop being who you want to be
Never stop standing up for your beliefs
Never stop believing in miracles.
Never stop living life to the fullest, no matter what people say, no matter how hard it is, no matter what.

Outsiders

We've seen some change
But we're still outsiders
If everybody's here
Then hell knows
We ride alone

I've seen some years
But you're still my Caesar
With everything I feel
I feel you've already been here

The only difference is all I see
Is now all that I've seen

It's bright on the outside
The bright love the dark side
I know it's obvious
But sometimes
You just have to say it
So you don't feel so weak
About being such a freak
Or alone

In seventeen years
Will you still be Camille
Lee Miller, Gala or whatever
You know what I mean, yeah

Love'll die
Lovers fade
But you still remain there
Squeezing in your fingers
What it means for me to be

The only difference is what might be
Is now what might have been

When you saw me sleeping
You thought I was dreaming of you
I didn't tell you
That the only dream
Is Valium for me

The only difference is that what might be
Is now

Fall asleep, fall asleep, fall asleep

I didn't think I would like this song. I had read (I think Rollingstone) that it wasn't a particularly strong track, so I was rather suprised by my reaction. First of all the melody is so enticing to my musical side. I mean, geeze. Not even the Beatles used that mode, I think. Also the middle part really...well, thats what all my livejournal communities and fansites and the music do for me.
I know it's obvious/But sometimes/You just have to say it/So you don't feel so weak/About being such a freak/Or alone Listening to the ballads and such make me feel better. They make feel stronger. I know I'm not so weird if I know there's someone else feeling or thinking the way I do. Everyone wants to be apart of something. No one wants to be alone.

I Needed This

Everyone needs a good laugh right? So here's one curtesy of some hilarious gents. More specifically Paul Smith and Lukas Wooller of les Maxie Poo. Paul is particularly funny.
Laugh Me Ass Off Please
In regards to YCHISMB, I'll give my op-ed...well just think about the concerts. I say one thing but really don't do it. Just know this --- I love it all. Especially track 7. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Mwhahaha.

To That Statue with the Dictionary

:cries: This is the most beautiful song ever. Oh my God, it is just so beautiful and sweet and...I WANT A BOYFRIEND TO WRITE ME BEAUTIFUL SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I got my cd. I'm very happy. And the song I was talking about is "Eleanor Put Your Boots On." It is the most beautiful song ever. With piano and all sorts of coolness.
I'll give a full report after I listen to this a few more (read 100) times. Right now I'll tell you this: Much different, yet sort of the same. It's like they took "Come On Home" and flew. In a way. Different, yet familiar.
So I had a bloody miserable afternoon/early evening. Marching band has never been so god awful. Drizzle and cold weather is not fun to march in. I was feeling like absolute shit, so when I saw it was Dad picking me, I was rather disappointed. Mums always makes me feel better. At least I feel more comfortable talking to her. So Dad and I were listening to the News Hour on NPR. Dad really likes this show and we were on my "favorite" part, the analysis of Brooks and sometimes Shields. Tonight it was Oliphont who wears cool bow ties. I was content to listen. I found it rather odd that Dad said to turn on the cd player. He was "bored with this stuff." The cd came on and something about the opening riff seemed vaguely familiar. The style I suppose. Then I heard the riff I had heard two days after the cd was released. THE FALLEN!!! I started screaming (good screaming, not bad screaming) and Dad just smiled. Franzie to the rescue, per usual. So I'm fairly happy now.
Lets see, anything else? Jackie, Iris, and Susan watched me in the Homecoming parade. I was feeling pretty shitty when I saw them, so it was pretty cool to see them. I'm doing something with Jackie tomorrow. We shall see who else comes. Go Hitchhiker's!!
:yells: "This Boy" should be called something else!!!!!!!!!! It's not "This Boy"!!!!!! Grrr.

I know you...

"I know you, I waltzed with you once upon a dream
I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar to me
And I know it's true that visions are seldom what they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once
Upon a dream"

Good song. Good song.
I'm waiting ever so patiently for my cd. I've been waiting ever so patiently for two weeks. I hate waiting ever so patiently. Until I get, I'll be mentioning this on Tuesdays. Just so you know.
Band tonight, band thursday, band friday, band tuesday, band thursday, band friday, band saturday, band tuesday, band thursday, band friday. No more band. Yay!!!
Goodnight, or good evening. I'm off.

Lyrics part III (or something like that)

I know I'm not working hard enough when I can update my journal two days in a row. Oh well, I'll just suck it up.
I really don't have much to say. I actually just wanted to post lyrics to these two songs I really like. They're neat. And depressing in their own special ways. Yay!! (blue!!)

Modern Way (Kaiser Chiefs :does the fake shock face:)

I know '‘cos I've seen it
It was great and I want it
There'’s no point in sitting
Going crazy on my own
Do you know what
I was put here in the world for
Could you tell me
In three words or more

It's the only way of getting out of here
It's the only way of getting out of here

Take a lesson
From the ones who have been there
My brain is not damaged
But in need of some repair
Hold on to the basics
But we can't change all our tactics
There's no point in sitting
Going crazy on your own

It's the only way of getting out of here
It's the only way of getting out of here

This is the modern way
Of faking it everyday
And taking it as we come
We're not the only ones
Is that what we used to say
This is the modern way

I know where I'm going
And that we are in the knowing
And I will stop at nothing
Just to get what I want

It's the only way of getting out of here
It's the only way of getting out of here

This is the modern way
Of faking it everyday
And taking it as we come
We're not the only ones
Is that what we used to say
This is the modern way (hard to read yellow!!)

Toto Dies (Nellie McKay)

And when the dawn breaks through the drums start
beating the morning to the farm
your grimace widens and your lips part
sounding the silent alarm
and when the bells explode they scatter
hitching a hand unto the breeze
the grand bureaucracy grows fatter
whistling the old melodies

oh-ee-oh goes the Buckingham jewel guard
oh-ee-oh goes the cop on the beat
oh-ee-oh goes the kid in the schoolyard
oh-ee-oh goes the kid on the street
Hey man what'’s happenin'’ with you?
I watched that episode too
maybe I'’ll get some Chinese
I'’ll have the dumplings
no MSG please

And when the night breaks through they wonder
if all they lost was self-respect
they pass the homes of greed and plunder
still, ling'’ring on, the disconnect

oh-ee-oh sittin' down for the evening
oh-ee-oh through the civil earthquake
oh-ee-oh safe in bed and they'’re dreamin'
heaven knows if they'll ever awake

Yeah I'’ll have my coffee black
hey look we'’re bombing Iraq
I guess thatÂ’s the only way
oh did I tell you we got Fifi spayed?
and when they get to work they hear drums
the boom fills all the empty space
they file papers lada-dee-dum
trimming their shoebox with lace

oh-ee-oh but there'’s somethin'’ a growin'
oh-ee-oh through the bustle and hiss
oh-ee-oh fuck the lawns that need mowin'
oh-ee-oh there is somethin'’ amiss
oh-ee-oh oh-ee-oh oh-ee-oh
oh-ee-oh-ee-oh-ee-oh (pink!!)

Another song you should listen to is "Jingle Jangle" by Hot Hot Heat. Also depressing in a way. Or anything by the Kinks. Also kind of sad. The neat thing about those two songs/bands is the tune and rhythm are pretty upbeat, so you don't feel like you're listening to depressing as heck songs. My favorite kind of depressing music. The deceptive kind. (green!!)

Bend and Break

My cd has yet to come. I offically hate Sony. I don't hate Franzie, I hate Sony. In this hate for Sony I will listen to Keane non-stop until I get the new Franzie. Or something like that.
Dad has the mumps. Mums has lost 11 pounds due to stress. Sophs is depressed. Me? I painted my finger nails navy blue. I'm actually doing pretty well. I went to see a play with Jackie on Saturday then I went over to her house and did a jigsaw puzzle with her, Iris, and Angel. I had a blast. I'm the only person in my family who isn't feeling like shit for one reason or another. Pretty special for me.
November 4. The last day of marching band and the last day of the quarter. I'm literally counting down the days. Well not literally, literally, but more theoretically. Which isn't literally at all but thats really beside the point. I'm excited to say the least. It's all almost over!!! Hopefully the rest of the season will go well and the rest of the quarter will go well too. That way I can get my mp3 back!!! w00t!!
My clarinet helps me compensate for my low singing range. :nods:
Not much else to report. It was really weird talking to Sophs today. She just sounded exactly the way I must have sounded when I was at Stu in 9th grade. It was almost scary in a way. Depression sucks ass. :contemplates the tone of last sentence: Hmmm, I really do mean that seriously ya know. The worst part is that you, by yourself, can do nothing to stop depression. Eating, sleeping, singing, none of it helps. So sad.
"If only I don't bend and break
I'll meet you on the otherside
I'll meet you in the light..."

Review

I can always count on the Washington Post to give a review of the show I saw last whenever. Here it is for your reading pleasure the review of Monday's concert.
In other news, there is no other news. Read the review while I curse out Sony. A week, a goddamn fucking week!

Things

The back of my neck hurts. I'm hoping this has nothing to do with last night. I feel fairly confident that it doesn't, but honestly ya never know. I just want my neck to stop hurting.
I did my English oral today. People seemed impressed with how I did. I was nervous the whole time and couldn't think straight. My transitions sucked, but at least I tried to have some fluency between each subject. I had too many quotes, but when I realized that I has mostly done and really wanted to include the quotes that I had left. Damn I sucked. I honestly don't care what Alex and Kaitlyn said, I didn't like my oral. I'm going to have indigestion the rest of the day. I hate this.
I will again fail to write properly about the concert last night. Sophs thinks it's a futile excersise and quite frankly I haven't been able to do it, so I'm not going to try. I will say this though --- I wish that I could here Ricky's voice everday and that I knew someone half as cool as Dave Grohl, Rivers Como (lead singer o' Weezer) and Ricky. It was, to use Dave's favorite curse word, fucking awsome.

Last Night

"We've been hired to warm you up."- Ricky :swoon:

Set List
Na Na Na Na Na
Saturday Night
Everday I Love You Less and Less
Sink That Ship :yearns for single:
I Predict a Riot
Modern Way
OMG

Kaiser Chiefs...I love them, but very few last night loved them. Twas terribly sad. Ricky was horribly frustrated. It was their last night. Soon they go off to the UK to tour avec The Cribs and les Maxie poo. :wishes she lived in UK:

"Are you ready to be conquered?"- Ricky

Bad News

Oh my little fishes I need some good news asap. I have C's in two of my favorite classes. I don't know how I'm going to explain this to Mums and Dad. It's such a huge disappointment to me and I know it will be an even bigger one to them. I can kind of explain the history grade, but English? I don't know what I'm going to do. The thought of having to explain this them just makes me sick. I know it's just an interim and that I'll have lots of oppurtunties to make up for the lackluster performance, but still. Ugh...I just feel awful.
Ya know what else is bugging me? My lack of the YCHISMB. I ordered it from Sony so I'm getting a bonus cd for free, but they didn't send out the thing until yesterday. So far the only songs I've heard from the new cd are "Do You Want To?" and "The Fallen." I heard "The Fallen" last night on the Hard Rock concert thingy on MTV and I must say, I really like it. There's no doubt in my mind I'll like the rest of the CD, I just really, really want it. Ugh, this waiting is killing me.
A home game, homecoming, states, another home game. Another month of marching band. :sighs: I'm going to die in that month. These grades and marching band will sap me of what little creative output I have. I have choir. I have my bands. I have English and History. I know I'll make it. I hope I can.
Call out to Avers: A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings. Remember that? From 9th grade? Booya. Rereading. So much fun.

1 Day!!!

Only one day my little ones before the new Franzie cd comes out!!!! :does a little dance, doesn't make a little love, gets down tonight: Totally siked. Definatly going to do my best to represent the Franz.
In other words, I have a couple thingies that I'm going to post. I hate calling them...poems, but techinally thats what they are. In any event do give them a read and don't forget what tomorrow is....THE BEST DAY IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

(none of these have titles)
(and some are kind of long)
Violin sixteenths
Cello eighths
Consistant rhythms
Constant melody
Back and forth duets
Rolling music
Train of thought
Music is not background
It's only the subconsciounce
Weilding its only sword
I listen to it patiently
I listen for its cause
Violin sixteenths
Cello eighths
Consistant rhythms
Constant melody

(inspired by "Psycho" soundtrack)

Flirt
Wink of an eye
Batting your lashes
Seduce
Wiggle the hips
Pout your lips
Get the boy
Before he gets you

(no inspiration...I don't even do that)
Waking up
A darkened room
Grope for a light
Search for a path
Morning light
Eyes slowly adjust
Coffee and toast
Newspaper headlines
Garrison Keeler reading poetry
Packing up
Start the car
Finally gone

(not a favorite, but okay)
YOU COULD HAVE IT SO MUCH BETTER........WITH FRANZIE POO!!!
