They Only Come for the Festivals

Actually that's not entirely true. Some are releasing albums over here. Some won't admit they're coming for the festivals and are also releasing an album. Lots are doing both. Others are just coming for the festivals. All in all Coachella in California and South by Southwest in Texas are drawing a lot of bands, even bands that are suppose to be recording (I'm looking at you WAS and Arctic Monkeys.) It's quite nice in a way. Makes me think that the US should have more festivals. Something like that anyway. It's just been rather funny reading about all of these bands heading over here and releasing albums and the like. I know I complain a lot about bands not coming to the States, so it's a bit hypocritical to complain about the fact that they are coming, but still. I wish they weren't all heading over just for these festivals. Because lord almighty I get bored in the summer when everyone's in Europe and the UK. But at least I'll have good music to listen to.

Happiness

I got my Kaiser book today. This makes me incredibly happy. The thing is stuffed to the brim with quotes from R, which makes me even happier. I'm bringing it to school tomorrow and plan on drooling profusely and making everyone look at it. Oh yes, I am a fangirl. Don't know, don't really care either. I just am. Makes me happy on the inside. Terribly good distraction too. In other KC news, they announced who the supports will be on the NA tour. Unfortunately for me, I got the short end of the stick. The Walkmen and the Annuals. Hopefully I actually end up liking them a bit. I could have had the Little Ones if I lived in a different part of the country, but alas I don't so it doesn't matter. :sigh:

I Know I'm Rambling

God I'm tired. I can't remember whether or not I took a nap or not, but God I'm tired. This song is far too long, I don't care if it's good or not, I can't listen to a song for this long. :skips: God I'm tired. It snowed today which was neat, except mums and I passed 5 accidents on the toll road, which is just ridiculous. I have the suspcion though that there will still be school tomorrow. If there isn't I'll be pleasantly suprised and try my damnedest to get as much work as humanly possible done. But I still don't think there won't be school tomorrow. It's not snowing right now. Looking at radar it doesn't seem like there will be jack tonight or tomorrow morning. Damn and I was so hopeful. I really should go to bed now. I'm so goddamn tired. Goodnight.

Kaiser Chiefs Bulletin

Now that I've allowed myself to calm down (while still being inwardly beyond giddy) I'd like to announce a couple of things for those of you who read this blog and are interested in Kaiser Chiefs. First of which is that the band has posted their American tour dates. Today. At 1:09pm (it was on their site, I'm not that scary). :tries not to explode: And they're coming here. As in the 9:30 club. In April. April 7th to be exact. Which is exciting. Very exciting. Very goddamn exciting.
THEY'RE COMING BACK, THEY'RE COMING BACK!!! OMG THEY'RE COMING TO THE 9:30 CLUB!!!!! I GET TO RELIVE MY FIRST CONCERT BUT WITH NEW MUSIC!!!!! OMG I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!! :squeals at a painfully high pitch: :scary smile:
That's one week and 4 days after the CD is released. I wonder if I'll be able to memorize the whole thing that quickly. This is a real challenge, because I have to know all the words or...Anyway.
My other piece of news is that they also posted the video for "Ruby" at 5:51pm on the website. It involves the building of a city around the band and the revealing of Nick's sideburns. I also have to note that sideburns, when in the wind, fly just like the rest of your hair, but it is far more amusing because...because it is. Anyway, it's a fantastic video and if you the directors style you should check out they're website because they've also done videos for Kaiser Chiefs (the second version of IPAR), Franz Ferdinand (This Fire), and The Zutons (You Will, You Won't), among others. Really, fantastic. Sideburns, miniature cities, Ricky. What more could you ask for?

Anyway...There's a British tellie program called "The Friday Night Project" and Mr. Ten-Inch was on it last week, I believe, and somebody was kind enough to post the whole thing on youtube in five parts. So Damn Serious

They all look so damn serious and there's Whitey who looks like he's winking, but you can't be too sure. In a very odd way it makes me laugh, because I can't imagine KC being so damn serious. It's kind of like when the Doctor (10th) gets all hyper angry/serious. You can't take it seriously because not two seconds ago he was licking the damn door. :shakes head: At least I know they didn't start out seriously. They started out singing about boobs and booze.
Umm...let's see. I got into college. I'm still getting over that damn cold which sucks. I watched "Bright Young Things" which was incredibly enjoyable. Stars Emily Mortimer and David Tennant. Tennant plays a character nicknamed Ginger which just makes me incredibly happy for no real reason. In any event, there's not a lot going on. I do feel like such crap though. And I'm bored. Ugh.

Yes, dear friends, I got into college. In fact I got into Hollins University which is uber-exciting. Not only is this great new in general, but now I can say with certainty the year I'm going to be graduating in. I'm the class of 2011 bitches! So yeah. I'm in college. Kind of. I'm accepted at least, which is really fucking awsome. I'm going to go collapse now. Stupid cold.

Links with Telemann and a Rant

I'm listening to a movement of George Telemann's Canonic Sonatas. Tis pretty and very cool. I'm also going to be doing a presentation on Mr. Telemann sometime soon, and it's nice to listen to the inspiration for acting like a five year-old in music class. Yeah, I think I had a good reason. Anyhoo...
I read A Catcher in the Rye in 9th grade and hated it. I hated it because it was a stupid son of a bitch whining about absolutly nothing and then either trying to commit suicide or actually committing suicide, I can't remember at the moment. So when I saw this I smiled because it's true. That's exactly what Holden would have said. If it were at my high school it would, for the majority of the class, be true. For those of us who aren't "goddamn phonies" (uuhh I hate that word) we would all revolt and kill the little wanker. Because you know what? He's the fucking phony.
In Kaiser Chiefs news I found two articles about the little so and so's yesterday that I found amusing. First links to them and then the bits I found amusing: Oooooooh: New Kaisers album and Kaiser Chiefs Reveal New Album Details. The first article is from Drowned in Sound which is a British site, while the second one is from Filter Magazine which is American. What I loved about both is that they stick it to KC, but for different reasons. DiS says "So they'd better have something to show for all that time saved flogging the same, tired song for the last two years." The sad bit is that it's true. I've been listening to "Employment" for god knows how long. I have all the lyrics memorized, even "Teammate" which I don't like that much. "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" is very much like Franz Ferdinand's second album in that we, the fans, have been waiting for-fucking-ever for new material. Which leads nicely into my next quote from Filter: "Yours Truly, The Angry Mob will be released globally on February 26th, but sadly North America will have to wait or endure extortionate import prices as it’ll be available here on March 27th." North American fans, who got the first album later and didn't get nearly as many shows as Europe will have to wait longer than the rest of the world. Now I know I've complained about this before, but it doesn't change the facts. The North American fans get the short end of the stick consistantly unless we're willing to either pony up a shitload of money or compromise and deal with bootlegs. Now I have no problem with bootlegs (as a certain folder on my desktop can attest to) but not everyone has the capablities or resources to do as I do. So, not only has everyone had to wait an eternity for new material, but certain geographic areas have to wait longer than the rest of the world. The only bright side? "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" comes out the day after my musical investigation is due. As I said to Ms. Anastasio, it's like a little reward for me. I just wish it came sooner.

Kaisers Mark 2

Well it's beginning. Today was the first day single "Ruby" was played on British radio and the single is coming out in a month and 11 days in the UK and shortly thereafter "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" the band's second album will be released every where but North America. North America gets the album March 27th, a day more than a month later than the rest of the world. Now I could complain, bitch and moan and swear not to listen to KC ever again, but it's a bunch of bullshit. This is how the system works and I just have to suck it up. Now why don't I just buy it import? Because I don't know whether my purchase will count towards American sales. I doubt it and so I don't buy import. I want the band (as well as other bands) to realize that they have American fans and that maybe they shouldn't treat us like secondary citizens. Oh well. I can only do my little part. In any event, here's the link to the news item concerning the release of "Truly Yours, Angry Mob" which comes out March 27th. There's a tracklisting which looks exciting. So the slow progression goes. I truly hope they don't disappoint.

I have two songs vying for attention now: "Sunday, Sunday" by Blur and "Monday" by the Mamas and the Papas. Anyway...onto the entry!
Stravinsky, as I may or may not have stated before, is the devil. I have about 2 good partial recordings and one really bad complete recording. I think I'll record it at Nancy's tomorrow or sometime after. I'm not recording it tonight because my mind is about to explode.
I'm tired. I'm annoyed with Mums because she's annoying. But "Ruby" is being played tomorrow sometime during Jo Whiley's show so I have something to look forward to. What else? Oh yeah, tomorrow's a blue day which is always a good thing. I'm off to early bed now. Nite.

The Website

As we speak I'm "preparing" myself to be initiated into PEO. God help us all.
Anyway, KC's website is really up and functioning now. I've saved one of the pictures that's on the site. I've also figured out how to read a "Thank You" list. Or at least, I know Peanut's last name which was a big help. It's kind of cute in a way. But they also have a blog. It's called the "Angry Blog" with a the sub-header reading "Everyday rants from Kaiser Chiefs." I laughed at that. I then preceded to read it and laugh some more. But I figure you should be able to enjoy it yourself so here's the link. Finally here's the picture I saved. Sorry for the quality, it's a screencap from Paint.


In other news I got an email from my admissions counselor at Hollins. Here's the important bit: "Our Admissions Committee will meet to discuss your application and I will be in touch with you in the near future." Oh dear god. That's all I have to say.
Now I'm going to play solitaire in preparation for being initiated. Oh, one last thing: Ricky is still a sex god. Yes I've said it; Sex God.

Calming Down From Being a Spazz

So I'm nearly done being a spazz. I've diverted my attention from KC to my other main obsession, Dr. Who, all in an effort to avoid Russian political history which is almost the same as Russian history. I've also been listening to things other than KC, such as the Jam, Guillemots, Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists, and Arcade Fire. I'm also eating chocolate but that has more to do with Russian political history than KC. In any event, I was reading a review of "The Runaway Bride" (the Dr. Who Christmas special) over at Behind the Sofa and found this to be very amusing. Just one little side note for those not obsessed with Dr. Who: Freema Agyeman is the actress playing the Doctor's new companion. Now onto the quote!

The Bumper Book of Made-Up Doctor Who Facts has this to say about The Runaway Bride: Russell T Davies is now so proud of his own work he's designed his car to look like the TARDIS so he can cause havoc on the motorway, has bought 800 pet spiders, and dresses up as Santa and shoots people, so that he can relive his favourite moments. So far 5 lawsuits have been filed, all by Freema Agyeman. David Tennant has spoken out in his defence, saying "She's just not used to him yet. I almost sued him last year when he came after me with a sword trying to cut off my hand, but then I realised that he was just playing make believe. What a scamp!"

In Support of DIY

Since I don't know when (or more likely after I started listening to KC) I've been reading This is Fake DIY. They're a neat little outfit that is both entertaining and informative. Sure they don't have all the news and certainly not as quickly as NME but that's all right. They also rarely pay any sort of attention to American bands, save the ones that are in love with the UK or are really big (OK Go, the Killers, etc.) Kirkland Ciccone is my hero and with few exceptions I agree with their reviews. I trust them slightly more than NME but that's mainly because DIY's website is far easier to navigate than NME's. So when DIY suggests a band, I tend to pay attention. It isn't always easy, considering how British bands don't (never) release albums in the UK at the same time as in the US, so some things slip past me. Or I just forget that I was suppose to be paying attention to band X until I'm reminded again.
Such a reminder was given to me in DIY's end of the year wrap up. Everyone in the blogosphere does one in one form or another. Most music blogs do a top multiple of 5 list of CDs and/or songs of the year. Most of these lists are extraordinarily similar because everyone in the blogosphere listens to the same kind of music. Or something like that. Anyway, DIY decided to forgo that particular route and instead released a "2006: Top Stuff" list thing. I read this list with much bemusement and partial agreement. Some things I have no opinion because I either didn't see it (Celebrity Big Brother for instance) or couldn't listen to it (Girls Aloud and the Long Blondes' album). And then there was a little reminder in the form of this:

Far be it for DIY to be accused of exaggerating, but 'The Bright Lights And What I Should Have Learned' is a pretty damn ace debut album. Unfortunately, shamefully few people seemed to have caught on to this fact. Even despite 'Brothers And Sisters' shockingly appearing on Final Score on BBC 1. Yes, we know, Duels aren't a band who look like they'd make a good 5-a-side team. Instead, there's always the hope 'What We Did Wrong' features on Strictly Come Dancing."
And I thought to myself, "Oh yeah. I meant to listen to that. I read the review. Hmm...I think I'll listen to that." So I have been and DIY is right. And the other thing is, is that they've released singles too, with songs that aren't on the debut. I haven't listened to that yet, but given the album I would be dismayed if it weren't ace too. Things to Get Excited About in 2007: A List

• Kaiser Chiefs mark 2 and all that entails
• Music. My God the music. Yes the majority of the dates are vague (to say the least) but my god look at it. So much to look forward to.
• Dr. Who! Yes ladies and gents the good Doctor returns to the BBC in March which means right when I need to be studying I'll be reading recaps from the Doctor Who Reference Guide. Huzzah!
• I turn 19. Two more years and I'll get to drink!
• The end of January because you see then all (or the majority at least) of the IB shit will be done! Hahahahahahahaha! Then I can start relaxing.
  
• Did I mention all that music? I mean, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Maximo Park, Hot Hot Heat (finally), Lily Allen, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Blur (though I don't believe that for a minute), Avril Lavigne, Modest Mouse, and Yoko Ono! Christ, that's not even half. So yeah, the music.
• KAISER CHIEFS!! Once more with feeling...KAISER CHIEFS!!!! Yeah, I'm excited.
• And the Doctor. It won't be shown here (hopefully) until September, but still. It's still 2007 in September.

While I listen to some of the music I should have been listening to this year I'd like to give you some interesting things to think about from Tampa Bay Online's "50 Things We Know Now (That We Didn't Know This Time Last Year)" List:

I'm still creeped out by the mites in my eyelashes. Number 36 is just ironic though, since the British have something of dislike for the Spanish (though that might not be as true now as it use to be.) Also, in response to 50, I'm hoping that scientist will be able to allow us humans to retain the gills we have when we're in the womb. That and our tails. But that's just me. Well I'm off to clean up what I can off the kitchen. Until then.

Is it really Thursday? Uh...I've done absolutely nothing since...the 22nd in fact. Didn't do anything that day, haven't really done anything since. Christmas went well. The Christmas Eve service was lovely and I seriously thought about killing the person who invented incense. Christmas day was amazingly relaxed. Sophs and I watched some Dr. Who, which I got for Christmas, I ironed napkins and the table cloth. It was all pretty low key compared to Christmases past. I got some really neat stuff. As I said, I haven't been doing jack this week. Well...I've been watching Dr. Who. God I love that show. Christopher Eccleston isn't at all good looking (in my opinion) but he's fantastic on the show.
I should do some work, but I know I won't. I'll practice my clarinet though, otherwise mums will yell at me. I'm recording tomorrow at 1pm two of the pieces I'll be sending to colleges and IB. I don't know when I'll record the Stravinsky, but 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all. Anyway, I have to run through those again.

My "protest" has officially ended since I'm currently listening to KC. God I hate my mother for being stupid ass shit who doesn't understand that sociology does not matter. It's a GPA booster. Not turning in one paper isn't going to kill me. Fuck, as long as I turn in the next paper I'll be fine. But no, she has to be a complete bitch so now I'm listening to KC to make me feel better. Damn her for being a bitch and damn them for being my comfort food. Grrr...

This Is Fake DIY is having a "Beard of the Year" (as in the facial hair) competition and a couple of weeks ago, after reading about how R was nominated, I decided, "well Simon has a beard too! He had a beard before R did and he looks better with a beard." So I decided to nominate Simon. Today, whilst checking Fake DIY for news (nothing really) I saw that they had an update on the competition. So yeah. 0_0 My name's on the internet! So scary/freaky/exciting. Edit: I know this may seem very hypocritical or very reactionary, but this kind of behaviour, not just from KC, but from a lot of bands has been pissing me off for awhile. The reason I'm so upset about this particular instance is that I've been waiting for this album since August. Many, many people have gotten to hear tracks from this album, all of them from Europe or Asia. As far as I know, no one in the US has gotten to hear them (save the crummy bootlegs from people in Europe). That really pisses me off. The general policy of releasing albums later in the US reallypisses me off. I would also remind you that this is my favourite band. I get to act like a freak about them.

I'm crying because my whole is starting to overwhelm me, but I'm smiling at the same time because my boys came through. They have magic mind reading abilities and they knew that their number 1 fan was having a for shit day (or more accurately, night) and so they decided to post the above. They're coming and that's all I really care about. God I'm such a fangirl.

...And Then My Head Exploded

So today I had three tests. 1 in biology, 1 in history, and 1 in music. The bio test was on photosynthesis terms and was a bit harder than I thought it would be. It didn't help that I didn't really study at all, so I suppose it would have been easier if I had. The history test was and essay test on WWI. There were three essay questions and we picked one to write about. We had an hour which was nice. I wrote about three causes of WWI which mimicked my essay that was due today, which was nice. Unfortunately I was half dead by the time I got to history, so my head was starting to feel like like a dead weight which didn't help with my writing. Thankfully it did stop me from pontificating, which is always a good thing. Finally I got to music, feeling completely dead. The test was on Ancient music through the Renaissance, which isn't actually that much. I was completely sure of everything, but I felt prepared enough to guess at what I wasn't completely sure on. The funny thing was that I was tired that I actually asked my teacher if I had to answer the essay questions in complete sentences. The reason this is funny is because actually forming complete sentences was very difficult for me at that point. Thankfully we didn't do anything in chorus. I cleaned the piano and then dozed off for awhile. Now I'm doing absolutely jack shit. My head still feels like a dead weight which is a very peculiar feeling. Anyway...and then my head explodes.

Whilst Procrastinating Pt. Deux

My ribs are being crushed, my ribs are being crushed!! Damn the shortness of my bunk bed and my tallness. And horrible posture. In any event...my ribs are being crushed, my ribs are being crushed!! You may not believe me, but they are!!!
Anywho, that's it. Just wanted to say my ribs are being crushed. Because they are. Now I have to finish my really sucky conclusion and hope that nobody notices how absolutly horrible my essay is. :sigh: It wasn't the procrastinating that did me in though. Just the laziness that is coupled with procrastinating.
One last thing. WALES!! Or more precisly the areas surrounding the capital of Wales, which is Cardiff. And ya know how I could tell? The strangly named town/city/things around the main bunch of marker pins. Oh yeah, I'm this big a dork.

Whilst Procrastinating

This is becoming something of a theme. Writing while procrastinating. Procrastinating is just a horrible habit I can't seem to break. Anyway...onto the procrastinating!

And also that Serge is not good looking or particularly cool unless he's been made up in paint. Also, I did go and look at the picture of R for like a split second before I started inwardly screaming, so I can't say whether or not he looked anything like James Dean. I suppose I'll go back to get the link for y'all (because I know you look at all the pictures [stares at Mar]) but even then I hopefully won't be looking at the photo (huzzah for two hands!).

Dr Who

So I've been obsessively reading "Dr. Who" recaps for the past week or so. I actually watched an episode yesterday which was quite exciting. Not enough David Tennant, but I'll live. I think this will become a regular thing, watching "Dr. Who." Hopefully it will make a tad more sense once I get through the recaps of season one. I've gotten through season two recaps, but there's a lot from season one that I need to know to have everything gel, so I gotta read those. But yeah...it just proves that me and the British get along very well when it comes to scifi and fantasy. Too bad "Dr. Who" isn't a book with a definitive author because then I could add that person to my list of favourite authors. Oh well. It's a brilliant show nonetheless. :happy face:
In any event not a lot happening here. I've got three tests to study for, all on Tuesday, which I haven't actually been studying for. I'm suspecting that the essay I have due for history on Tuesday will help with the test that day so I'm not too, too worried about that one. I'm worried about the bio term quiz and my evil procrastinating ways. I am glad though that I got some clarinet practice in since I have my lesson tomorrow. But yeah, I'm thinking I'm just going to have to seal myself off from my computer to avoid reading recaps, because knowing me I will do anything to avoid that paper and my bio homework. We shall though, we shall see.
By the by, can you believe it's almost two weeks until Christmas? I can't even believe it's December let alone almost Christmas. Man this year has gone by quickly.

Mmm...Photosynthesis

I'm tired, slightly frustrated with the world and feeling incredibly blah. I don't really have much to say. We got interims today and I didn't do horribly, I actually did quite well compared to last intermims. One "C," one "D+." Not too horrible I would say. In any event I've mostly just been keeping tabs on my bands and trying my best not to go crazy/do my work. All in all, fairly unintersting. So anyway...yeah. Oh, but I do have a few articles I've been saving for you guys. So I guess I'll post those and be on merry way. I've got a photosynthesis crossword puzzle to do and I'd like to watch Scrubs reruns tonight, so I've got to get that crossword done! So here are the articles:

Have Mercy Upon Us

The weird thing about being non-religious for me is that I know a great deal about religion but don't really believe in any of it. I'm a semi-authority on the religious proceedings of the Anglican church, but have not attended a service since the beginning of November and didn't fully participate in the service anyway. So here I am, quoting scripture and not believing anybody up in an non-existent heaven is going to show me any mercy. But in my own weird way I hope that something is looking out for me because right now I really need some backup.
Another weird thing about life is how depression works, or at least works for me. I know what's going on. The apathy in everything except repeatedly listening to excerpts from Vivaldi's "Gloria," Handel's "Messiah," and "Carol of the Bells" while reading Florence of Arabia. Everyone who applied early decision is hearing from their colleges and I haven't even gotten out my applications. My fear of not getting into Mary Washington is mounting as my still uncompleted bio lab and missing history assignments loom over my head. The things that give me any sort of solace, namely KC, just make me feel guilty for my laziness so I'm listening to religious music. It all screams "Nore's fucked! Nore's going through a cycle! Nore's period sucks monkey ball's! The world hates Nore!" So I sit here reading Florence of Arabia ignoring the obvious and praying everything works out. It's like 10th and 9th and 8th and 7th grade all over again. Except I know what it is. Which, in a horrible way, make it all the worse. Not only am I stressed and apathetic but I know that things won't work out if I don't get off my lazy ass and do something about it. But I don't want to. And so goes the Mobius strip of my depression.
I want someone to tell me my life will work out, but I don't want it to be someone I know. I want it to be someone who doesn't know me, who has no history with me, so I can know that it's a completely objective opinion. Not that, that will happen. My luck isn't that good. I just want things to work out.

Ah Fuck Me...

Being the lazy, procrastinating shit that I am, I will not be turning in my bio lab tomorrow. I will however be turning it in on Wednesday, so help me god. Ah, but fuck me.
So Thanksgiving went well. Jack wasn't an obnoxious wanker which was a nice change. Molly made a good dinner and I even got some mash which was definitely nice. Over all it was a semi-relaxing time, if not a bit boring at times. Thankfully (hohoho) it was over pretty quickly and then I got to go to bed. Thank heavens.

I agree with both, though I'm slightly ambivalent about the second. I just really want it to come out. But I fully agree with the first one. I was highly disappointed with her new album. Oh well. Some parents have awful relationships with their kids. My father for instance has an absolutely horrible relationship with his parents. It seems like most of my friends, both present and past, have had bad relationships with friends. One friend of mine's sister was sent off to boarding school at the beginning of high school because her parents didn't want to deal with a teenage girl. Although I don't know for a certainty, I suspect the same thing happened to her. I've always thought that my relationship with my parents, though not optimal, is better than most. I'm not like one friend of mine who fights with her father constantly. As always, things could be worse between myself and my parents. But how am I suppose to take comments like the above? And after saying these things, mum doesn't even take into account how I must feel and starts blabbering about whatever the hell she wants. I highly doubt she would have said something like to Sophs. She claims not to be a pessimist, but I think she is at her core. It hurts to think that my own mother thinks I won't make it into college. I worry so often that I won't be accepted by anyone because they'll know that I'm crazy and have horrible work ethic. I keep wanting to put off applying because I don't want to know what my future holds. I want to be able to keep imagining that everything will work out well for me. I doubt myself and my abilities so much that having mum say those things...it kills me. I know that my relationship with her has been fairly good considering everything and comparing it to other people's relationships with their mothers (like my mum's relationship with her's) and that makes the if's and unintentionally cruel statements so much worse. I know that's she's just trying to get me to do what I have to, but goddammit couldn't she find another way? Doesn't she realize how much it hurts that she seems to have no confidence in me? But I can't retaliate against her. So I just sit here and stew. Goddamn her.

This post asks the question that I would love to know the answer to: How tall is Ricky? My fantasy answer is 6ft, thus making Nick, Simon, and Whitey giants and Peanut still short. In reality that's probably not true, but a girl can dream right? Anyway, make sure to take a look at the piccie for I find it very sexy. Though it's almost impossible to find a picture where I don't find him at least good looking. [random side note: this is how to be a fangirl. Really. All the other fangirls just don't measure up to me.] So yeah. I wish I knew how tall he is. :sigh:

Mall Rat

Things Nore Likes To Do...

• Listen to Regina Spektor and finally figure out why everyone in the music blogosphere thinks she's such a darling. (No seriously, listen to "On the Radio" and try not to fall for her vocals. "Apres Moi" is like an instrumental explosion, so beautiful.)
• Read funny articles that are funny because they're so true and realizing that the if I could be one person in the whole world it would be a British guy. (If you feel like punching Bono in the face go read this. And yes, I do want to be Kirkland Ciccone, and not because his name is Kirkland.)
• Reading funny "imagined monologues" and laughing because they too are so true. (This is what I think Dave, Mark, Simon, and Whitey think of their respective lead singers. At least it would be really amusing if that is what they thought of them. But really it's just amusing because at one point or another it was probably true with any band.)

Things Nore Does Not Like To Do...

• Spend nearly four hours at the mall, most of which was spent in all the major department stores and trying to navigate around the hoards at the mall.
  
• Hear a song from "Hopes and Fears" in the lingerie section of Macy's. Where little old ladies shop. Little old ladies who could never possibly appreciate Keane like me.
  
• Try on clothing in nasty changing rooms with horrible lighting and feeling horribly fat.

Oh the mall. I loathe the mall. I like shopping, but I hate the mall. Too many people, too much noise, too many bad smells and it's all so tiring. But I did get to go to Anthropologie which is where I heard Regina Spektor and I got a really nice skirt that I can wear to school. That bit was nice, but it was right at the end so I was tired and couldn't appreciate it as much as I would have earlier. Anyway, that's how I spent my day. Walking around the mall, trying on clothing and feeling fat. Now I'm tired, but will be going to "Shakespeare in Hollywood" which will nice, if also tiring. But let's just say, I couldn't imagine being a mall rat.

I fucking hate this. How the hell am I suppose to describe myself without making me sound like a loon?! I mean honestly. Mum can say I'm not obsessed all she likes, but really we both know I'm obsessed. How do I go about explaining that at the moment my whole life is wrapped up in trying to get into college so I can then leave the college as soon as is allowable? I like Mary Wash because of it's study abroad program. I could give a rat's ass about the rest of it. :sigh: Positive attributes...I'm a dedicated fangirl? I spend hours and hours obsessing over the fact that I might have to get a myspace account so I can better keep track of a band I like? For Christ's sake, what the hell am I suppose to say? I lived in a bubble for the first twelve years of my life and now have a very warped sense of how the world works? Or better yet, I yell at people I've never met and have no chance of meeting for doing things that I don't "like." Like touring some place other than the metro DC area. :nods: Oh yeah, college admissions people will love that. God...It was enough that I had to write some stupid ass essays, why on earth do I have to write more of the same shit for my counselor? Why can't she just rely on other people? Other people seem to have a much easier time describing me. But no...my stupid bitch of a counselor needs me to describe myself. :shakes head: So stupid and annoying. Oh well. It's better than trying (and failing miserably) to memorize the "To be or not to be" speech from Hamlet. Off I go...

The Long and Winding Road to Pictures

So, after typing in the url for Lily Allen's site one too many times I decided to add the link to my "1 Site Bands" folder. Now I can be lazy when I want to listen to her music! So anyway, while I was listening to her music I was looking around the site, looking at the various pictures and other such things. Which is when I discovered these pictures. Ms. Allen certainly has a style of her own, one which I'm not going to be copying any time soon. After looking at some of the pictures, I noticed that the gallery was alphabetized and so thought to myself "Mayhaps this photographer will have pictures of Kaiser Chiefs. I know they've been to Paris before." So I scrolled down and did in fact find Kaiser Chief photos. Positively thrilled was I, especially since the majority of them are of R. So, having noticed that right below KC were pics of Kasabian, I looked through some of those which was when I discovered that there were dates. So I went back to the Kaiser Chief photos and discovered that these photos are from their first show in their first tour in support of their yet to be released second album. I was even more thrilled by this than I was by simply finding them. Unfortch I was cleaning my room so I haven't gotten a chance to write about any of this until now. So go look at all the lovely photos. I'm going to finish practicing my clarinet.

Hot Friday Five

At the moment I'm listening to Hot Club de Paris who are a fabulous British band. Hence the "hot" in the title of this entry. Anyway...onto the Friday Five! Some of this answers are highly predictable. And by highly predictable, I mean really fucking obvious. Onwards and upwards!

1) If you had to move 100 miles or more to the north, east, west, or south, which would you choose, where would you end up, and what's so great about there?
:thinks very hard: LONDON!!!!!! LONDON, LONDON, LONDON, LONDON!!!! And if you have to ask what's so great about London, then you haven't been paying attention. Because everything about London is great. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. :smiles:

2) Do you have a favorite stretch of highway or byway for driving, touring, or wandering?
My personal favourite place to go driving is I-81 because it's so amazingly tranquil and the scenery is gorgeous. And it's incredibly straight. :nods: 81 is my interstate highway.

3) Are you happier to start a trip or return home?
I get excited about going on trips but then I get really excited about going home. So, I'm happier with both. Most of the middle of trips are only so, so. This is mainly because I have to be highly social which I loathe and despise. So yeah...I like starting and ending trips.

4) Plane, train, automobile, bicycle, or foot?
Train, mos def. Cars are too cramped, as are planes, which also smell. Bicycle is just asking for trouble and does foot. So yeah, I love trains. They're perfect. Not too cramped (for the most part) and they don't smell funny in the same way that planes do. Also, you can see all the scenery that is there to see. Besides there's a band called i LiKE TRAiNS.

5) Do you overplan or underplan your travels? (Assume that "no" is not a valid answer.)
No. :giggles: I'm so evil. I don't normally plan my travels, so I can't really say.

:sigh: So I discovered Weebl and Bob through a guy I knew at Stu/possibly Avers. In any event I love them because it's all about pie and it's british and...it's really fuckin' hi-larious. Definantly would highly recommend anything on the the weebl stuff site. Tis very funny overall. Especially the series having to do with the moon. In any event, the point is Weebl and Bob. They're obsessed with pie. Mmmmm, pie. They've had many adventures, but this latest one...oh it tops them all. Because it takes and popular song and makes it into a song about PIE!! Yes, I know. Weebl and Bob are bringing pie back. Just like some other dip is trying to bring sexy back. Me? I'm bringing nothing back. Go watch!!!
In other news, I have some recommendations:
Lily Allen!! All you have to do is click the little track titled "Littlest Things" and it will start playing all the wonderful music available to you on the little...music thing. Take a listen. Personally, I can't stop. She's brilliant, ace, and lots of other good things. All the songs are also brilliant, ace, and lots of other good things. Too bad you can't here "Alfie." That's my personal favourite. Oh well. Go listen to the other tracks.

1. I voted. I'm very proud of myself for not really screwing up the whole thing. I have the little sticker and everything to prove that I voted. So yeah...I voted!!!
2. I interviewed at Hollins and was repeatedly told by my admissions counselor how glad she was that I came back. Hollins is still Hollins. I saw the music building. :nods: Is it horrible that I still really want to go to Mary Wash? Especially since I just called it Mary Wash instead of Mary Washington? God...I really want to go to college, but picking is too fucking hard. But yeah, the interview went well. Hollins is Hollins.
3. I'm home now. I have discovered the following things: The NME yearbook is coming out sometime soon. And this picture shouldn't exists. Ya know why? 1) Ricky and beard = Nore screaming like a stuck pig and 2) I'm secretly obsessed with Dr. Who because I don't watch it so...more screaming basically. And who isn't surprised that Oasis is interviewing their proteges Kasabian? But who is surprised that the Kooks are interviewing Blondie? The correct answer for both questions would be me. Yeah...I was right when I said during my interview that I spend way too much time obsessing over the small things. God I'm a freak!! Anyway...the yearbook is coming and it's only just November. Huzzah for ignoring this month completely!!

The Pitfalls of Procrastination

So I'm about...33% done with my internal assessment. I've done the easy parts basically. The hard part is coming up, so I've started procrastinating like there's no tomorrow. See, as far as I'm concerned, the paper isn't due until Wednesday at 11:59pm and if I've got the easy bits done, I'm doing pretty well. Besides, Mar's party isn't until 6 (to which I will not be showing up on time) so I figure that's about...4 hours to finish this thing for the most part. I mean, if I get section C completely done and most of section D, I can get the rest of section D and section E done on Wednesday before the deadline. Ideally (which is what I'm aiming for) I'll get all of sections C, D, and most of section E done today so I can do the evil nit picky stuff on Wednesday or tomorrow. Really though...I've got time. I write pretty quickly when I put my mind to it. Besides, section C is really pretty easy and section E is just evil because it's the conclusion. The only really hard part is section D, which still confuses me somewhat. Ugh...at least I've finished my biblio though. The really easy parts are all done. :sigh:
So...The Blood Arm, Lily Allen, and the Young Knives are all cds that I want but can't get because they haven't been released here, as in the States. I have no idea when the Blood Arm or the Young Knives are releasing their LPs here, but I know when Lily Allen is releasing hers (February.) So, yeah. :sigh:
I'm going to do section C now. get it done. Yes. that's what I'll do. Section C. Now.

So I'm doing Friday Five this week for the hell of it. Plus this week they asked stuff about music, so I have to answer.

1) What was the first CD/Record/Album/Artist you ever bought and what format was it in? (Vinyl/Cassette/CD/MP3 Download)?
I think it was B*Witched and it was a CD, though honestly I don't remember.

2) How do you usually listen to music? (iPod/Walkman/Stereo/Radio)
I usually listen either through my mp3 or Yahoo Music Jukebox

3) What is your favorite genre of music and why?
My favourite genre you say? Umm...British rock music? I guess that covers about 75% of what I listen to. Then there's the miscellaneous stuff...so yeah I guess British
rock.

4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music televion?
I like music videos because it means I get to see Ricky (or Alex and Alex or Tom and Tom or whomever) and stare longingly at him (not true for Alex and Alex or Tom, though true for the other Tom) {bonus points if you can figure out who the hell I'm talking about}

5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are?
No. :shrugs: They don't nominate enough good (aka my) music. It's mostly crap. But maybe that's because I only listen to indie...hmmm.

An Annotated Email from Kaiser Chiefs

Hello Everyone

Time for a word in your ears (or inboxes) We hope you've been keeping well. Our new album is recorded, we're mixing in London at the moment. Nick spoke to Billboard last week about things. Here's that interview. [yes the hyperlinks don't work, but don't worry, it doesn't really matter]

So what's there to talk about...The recent past.
We had an ace time in Iceland at Airwaves. We would and will recommend Iceland to anyone, apart from the cost of everything, it's one of the best places we've ever been. Thanks to all of you who travelled, particularly if you came halfway across the world, like those of you from Japan [lucky sons of bitches who have far too much time on their hands]. It was great to play live again, apologies for the non-deliberate mistakes, we'd not played for 8 weeks [umm...]! The day after the show, we went for a trip to the Blue Lagoon with The Cribs. Slightly surreal, but pictures of us all in our swimming gear are now out there... somewhere [WHERE!?! I want to see!!!].

Now the present: At the moment we're spending our time between rehearsing for the European shows and mixing the Album [grrr...]with Stephen Street and Cenzo Townsend in London. Last week we rolled up to The Good, The Bad & the Queen at BBC Electric Proms, which we all thought was ace & we met Paul Simenon which was brilliant.

Next: See you in Europe, the dates are below, they start next week in Paris. They're Sold Out, apart from Milan and Greece which have only just gone on sale (and Transmusicales is a Festival). We've got great supports along for the ride, The Pigeon Detectives in Paris, Antwerp, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Madrid and Milan - their single 'Found Out' is out on Nov 6th. Go and buy it [I would if I could]...it's brilliant and is Zane Lowe's Record Of The Week on Radio 1 this week. We've got Mumm-Ra [mum who?]with us in Germany for shows in Berlin and Munich - their debut single 'Out Of The Question' has just been released. Joining us for our show in Copenhagen are Danes Figurines and finally CCS (Cansei De Ser Sexy for those of you that speak Brazilian) [except it's not Brazilian it's Portguese, since there's no such thing as Brazilian] will be playing with us at Transmusicales Festival in Rennes, France on Dec 9th

We've also finally got our MySpace site to run ourselves [NOOO!!!]. It's been announced on the main site but there's some new old songs up there, live versions of Hits basically. Go on be our friend and all that. Our MySpace and Website will be getting brought up to date over the next couple of months as well. In fact we'll have a brand new website, and will be getting far more involved in our MySpace site ourselves with exclusive 'making of the album' films and video diaries from the Road [damn you, I hate myspace, you, you...people].

In January we'll be back in USA [got all excited], details to come, but we'll be playing a few small shows, one in LA and one in New York [and probably not in DC, poops] right at the end of the month to unveil the new record. We're also planning to do the same in Japan and Australia before the end of March. Again...watch this space [what space?], details to follow.

Final thing, I expect some of you will have seen Glastonbury: The Film (directed by Julian Temple), we're dead proud that 'Na Na Na Na Naa' from Glastonbury 2005 is on the DVD. The first song from one of our favourite shows ever.
