While I listen to some of the music I should have been listening to this year I'd like to give you some interesting things to think about from Tampa Bay Online's "50 Things We Know Now (That We Didn't Know This Time Last Year)" List:
36. DNA analysis determined the British descended from a tribe of Spanish fishermen who crossed the Bay of Biscay almost 6,000 years ago.
38. Most of us have microscopic, wormlike mites named Demodex that live in our eyelashes and have claws and a mouth.
47. A python was the first god worshipped by mankind, according to 70,000-year-old evidence found in a cave in Botswana's Tosodilo hills.
50. Researchers from the University of Manchester managed to induce teeth growth in normal chickens - activating genes that have lain dormant for 80 million years.
I'm still creeped out by the mites in my eyelashes. Number 36 is just ironic though, since the British have something of dislike for the Spanish (though that might not be as true now as it use to be.) Also, in response to 50, I'm hoping that scientist will be able to allow us humans to retain the gills we have when we're in the womb. That and our tails. But that's just me. Well I'm off to clean up what I can off the kitchen. Until then.

Cor...
Is it really Thursday? Uh...I've done absolutely nothing since...the 22nd in fact. Didn't do anything that day, haven't really done anything since. Christmas went well. The Christmas Eve service was lovely and I seriously thought about killing the person who invented incense. Christmas day was amazingly relaxed. Sophs and I watched some Dr. Who, which I got for Christmas, I ironed napkins and the table cloth. It was all pretty low key compared to Christmases past. I got some really neat stuff. As I said, I haven't been doing jack this week. Well...I've been watching Dr. Who. God I love that show. Christopher Eccleston isn't at all good looking (in my opinion) but he's fantastic on the show.
I should do some work, but I know I won't. I'll practice my clarinet though, otherwise mums will yell at me. I'm recording tomorrow at 1pm two of the pieces I'll be sending to colleges and IB. I don't know when I'll record the Stravinsky, but 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all. Anyway, I have to run through those again.
R is huge nerd. :) And allergic to milk and has a brother. :) God I love NME. :D :sigh:
Umm...go listen to some music. A lot was released this year and a lot of it was really good. So go listen to some music, it'll do you good.

What Happens When Nore is Bored
Right, yeah, this is what happens when I'm bored. Have fun:
The End of the World - Oh My God. An episode (or partial episode) of first season "Dr. Who" set to KC song "Oh My God"
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Oh My God. Bits and pieces from the HHGG movie set to "Oh My God." Are we sensing a theme here?
Rose - Every Day I Love You Less and Less. First episode of the first season of "Dr. Who" set to EDILYLAL by KC. Lovely isn't it?
Yeah, that's it. Enjoy and happy Christmas Eve.

Carol of the Bells
Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away
Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold,
Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,
Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
On on they send ,
on without end,
their joyful tone to every home
Dong Ding dong ding, dong Bong

I will try not to update until after Christmas. There is no guarantee. In fact I might update tomorrow. But we'll see. Meanwhile, enjoy "Carol of the Bells" and if you've never heard it before, I suggest you go listen. It's probably one of my favourite Christmas songs. 'Night.

Protest
My "protest" has officially ended since I'm currently listening to KC. God I hate my mother for being stupid ass shit who doesn't understand that sociology does not matter. It's a GPA booster. Not turning in one paper isn't going to kill me. Fuck, as long as I turn in the next paper I'll be fine. But no, she has to be a complete bitch so now I'm listening to KC to make me feel better. Damn her for being a bitch and damn them for being my comfort food. Grrr...
By the by...Loghman watches "Dr. Who" and Sophs is home. I'm going to go play solitare, in protest.

Photosynthesis Procrastination
I have my study materials right in front of me, but for some reason British music news is more important. Hmm...
This picture (on the right side of the screen) makes it very hard for me to hate KC. Damn you Richard!! Damn you and you're wonderful good looks! Ugh...I'm so weak.
Right so. This Is Fake DIY is having a "Beard of the Year" (as in the facial hair) competition and a couple of weeks ago, after reading about how R was nominated, I decided, "well Simon has a beard too! He had a beard before R did and he looks better with a beard." So I decided to nominate Simon. Today, whilst checking Fake DIY for news (nothing really) I saw that they had an update on the competition. So yeah. 0_0 My name's on the internet! So scary/freaky/exciting. I'm all quoted an everything. God I wish I hadn't nominated Simon. Editor's Note: This does not give anyone any permission for anything. I honestly didn't think it would happen, please do not abuse the knowledge of my real name.
Ahhh photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Why do you hate me so?

Wrath
:screams bloody murder:
MARCH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THAT??? OH AND IT'S A FUCKING MONTH AFTER EVERY-FUCKING-ONE ELSE!!!!!! I CAN'T TAKE THIS!! I CAN'T DO IT, I JUST CAN'T FUCKING TAKE THIS!!!!!!!!!! :violent twitch: That's it damnnit. I'm going on protest. No Kaiser Chiefs for god only knows how long. Oh I'm pissed. So very, very pissed. :twitch: They can just forget about getting any fucking money from me this Christmas. Screw them. Ooooooh I'm pissed. So very pissed. >_0
I read the email.
Edit: I know this may seem very hypocritical or very reactionary, but this kind of behaviour, not just from KC, but from a lot of bands has been pissing me off for awhile. The reason I'm so upset about this particular instance is that I've been waiting for this album since August. Many, many people have gotten to hear tracks from this album, all of them from Europe or Asia. As far as I know, no one in the US has gotten to hear them (save the crummy bootlegs from people in Europe). That really pisses me off. The general policy of releasing albums later in the US reallypisses me off. I would also remind you that this is my favourite band. I get to act like a freak about them.

Exciting Day
:giggles: I'm all applied to college. :giggles: :D Super happy, happy!! Now the waiting begins...
I'm holding off on reading this email Kaiser Chiefs sent me because I'm a sadist. Mostly I'm just not ready I think. I did accidentally read the header though so I know that their new single is "Ruby." Otherwize I know jack shit and plan to keep it that way until I calm down. Which may never happen. Anyway...yeah I'm a sadist
And now for your viewing pleasure...Beteigeuze (which I think is Betelgeuse)(also I did the "screen cap" all by myself. Huzzah MS paint!):

My Weakness
:smiles: I finished the Dr. Who recaps. Which means that I now have to actually watch the first season for all of the incredible dialogue and to see what everyone looked like, but yeah. All done. I know everything. In a way. So, anyway, for your viewing pleasure I neat little picture of David Tennant smiling (screencap from Adventures in Time and Space)(and I apologize if Mr. Tennant freaks you out, it's an aquired taste I think):

In other news here's a rather small picture (relatively speaking) of Kaiser Chiefs mark 2. Notice the lack of inappropriate facial hair on a certain band member. Notice, also, how only Peanut is shorter than him. :cries: But I love short men!!!

Ooohh creepy headlights and smoke. They're so mature now. :rolls eyes: I should be in marketing.

KAISER CHIEFS TO TOUR USA
KAISER CHIEFS TO TOUR USA IN APRIL 2007 PRESENTED BY NME.COM
In April 2007 we will be touring USA in partnership with NME.com to follow the US release of our new album (details of which will follow shortly)
Tickets for these dates are not yet on sale, they'll go on sale in January, but our hook up with NME for the tour (their first Stateside) is confirmed and we can announce the first few dates of the tour which will be:
April 13th New York Roseland Ballroom
April 18th Toronto Kool Haus
April 20th Chicago Vic Theatre
April 27th San Francisco Warfield Theatre
Supports and further dates to be confirmed in coming weeks.
I'm crying because my whole is starting to overwhelm me, but I'm smiling at the same time because my boys came through. They have magic mind reading abilities and they knew that their number 1 fan was having a for shit day (or more accurately, night) and so they decided to post the above. Yes there is no DC date, but "Supports and further dates to be confirmed in coming weeks" and "to follow the US release of our new album (details of which will follow shortly)" so I don't really give a flying fuck if I don't actually know when they're coming. They're coming and that's all I really care about. God I'm such a fangirl.

...And Then My Head Exploded
So today I had three tests. 1 in biology, 1 in history, and 1 in music. The bio test was on photosynthesis terms and was a bit harder than I thought it would be. It didn't help that I didn't really study at all, so I suppose it would have been easier if I had. The history test was and essay test on WWI. There were three essay questions and we picked one to write about. We had an hour which was nice. I wrote about three causes of WWI which mimicked my essay that was due today, which was nice. Unfortunately I was half dead by the time I got to history, so my head was starting to feel like like a dead weight which didn't help with my writing. Thankfully it did stop me from pontificating, which is always a good thing. Finally I got to music, feeling completely dead. The test was on Ancient music through the Renaissance, which isn't actually that much. I was completely sure of everything, but I felt prepared enough to guess at what I wasn't completely sure on. The funny thing was that I was tired that I actually asked my teacher if I had to answer the essay questions in complete sentences. The reason this is funny is because actually forming complete sentences was very difficult for me at that point. Thankfully we didn't do anything in chorus. I cleaned the piano and then dozed off for awhile. Now I'm doing absolutely jack shit. My head still feels like a dead weight which is a very peculiar feeling. Anyway...and then my head explodes.

Whilst Procrastinating Pt. Deux
My ribs are being crushed, my ribs are being crushed!! Damn the shortness of my bunk bed and my tallness. And horrible posture. In any event...my ribs are being crushed, my ribs are being crushed!! You may not believe me, but they are!!!
Anywho, that's it. Just wanted to say my ribs are being crushed. Because they are. Now I have to finish my really sucky conclusion and hope that nobody notices how absolutly horrible my essay is. :sigh: It wasn't the procrastinating that did me in though. Just the laziness that is coupled with procrastinating.
One last thing. WALES!! Or more precisly the areas surrounding the capital of Wales, which is Cardiff. And ya know how I could tell? The strangly named town/city/things around the main bunch of marker pins. Oh yeah, I'm this big a dork.

Whilst Procrastinating
This is becoming something of a theme. Writing while procrastinating. Procrastinating is just a horrible habit I can't seem to break. Anyway...onto the procrastinating!
This is why I love This is Fake DIY. So irreverent, yet so serious at the same time. Besides, it shows just how sad fangirls are. And also that Serge is not good looking or particularly cool unless he's been made up in paint. Also, I did go and look at the picture of R for like a split second before I started inwardly screaming, so I can't say whether or not he looked anything like James Dean. I suppose I'll go back to get the link for y'all (because I know you look at all the pictures [stares at Mar]) but even then I hopefully won't be looking at the photo (huzzah for two hands!).
Scary bearded Ricky. Instructions: Click "Enter." On the bottom there will be choices. Click "Gallery." If doesn't automatically go to the Ray Ban gallery, click "Wayfarer Sessions." Now only a true, obsessive fangirl would know this, but without even clicking on the picture, I knew R was the second person. So, on the right side of the screen there will be a little sheet with very hard to discern thumbnails of the people Mr. Rock took pictures of. R is the second person on the first row. If you wish to scare the bejeezus out of yourself, feel free to click. If you'd like to remember R when he looked like this for the love of god do not click the thumbnail! :)
That's all for now mes petites. I've got some more work to do. Damn you Mrs. Croon!
By the by, I'm so completely obsessed with Dr Who. Like completely. Rather exciting. I've never fangirled about anything fictional. :)

Dr Who
So I've been obsessively reading "Dr. Who" recaps for the past week or so. I actually watched an episode yesterday which was quite exciting. Not enough David Tennant, but I'll live. I think this will become a regular thing, watching "Dr. Who." Hopefully it will make a tad more sense once I get through the recaps of season one. I've gotten through season two recaps, but there's a lot from season one that I need to know to have everything gel, so I gotta read those. But yeah...it just proves that me and the British get along very well when it comes to scifi and fantasy. Too bad "Dr. Who" isn't a book with a definitive author because then I could add that person to my list of favourite authors. Oh well. It's a brilliant show nonetheless. :happy face:
In any event not a lot happening here. I've got three tests to study for, all on Tuesday, which I haven't actually been studying for. I'm suspecting that the essay I have due for history on Tuesday will help with the test that day so I'm not too, too worried about that one. I'm worried about the bio term quiz and my evil procrastinating ways. I am glad though that I got some clarinet practice in since I have my lesson tomorrow. But yeah, I'm thinking I'm just going to have to seal myself off from my computer to avoid reading recaps, because knowing me I will do anything to avoid that paper and my bio homework. We shall though, we shall see.
By the by, can you believe it's almost two weeks until Christmas? I can't even believe it's December let alone almost Christmas. Man this year has gone by quickly.

Mmm...Photosynthesis
I'm tired, slightly frustrated with the world and feeling incredibly blah. I don't really have much to say. We got interims today and I didn't do horribly, I actually did quite well compared to last intermims. One "C," one "D+." Not too horrible I would say. In any event I've mostly just been keeping tabs on my bands and trying my best not to go crazy/do my work. All in all, fairly unintersting. So anyway...yeah. Oh, but I do have a few articles I've been saving for you guys. So I guess I'll post those and be on merry way. I've got a photosynthesis crossword puzzle to do and I'd like to watch Scrubs reruns tonight, so I've got to get that crossword done! So here are the articles:
The Grammy's hop on the "give Arctic Monkeys as many awards as possible" bandwagon
We Are Scientists take over the "Beard of the Year" award
Kirkland Ciccone waxes poetic about the NME "Cool List" and Nore wonders why Lily Allen isn't in the top spot (or for that matter why Alex Turner was nominated seperatly from his band.)
Have a lovely night guys.
P.S. I'm so totally obsessed with Dr.Who. Must get pictures of David Tennant. :evil giggle:

Pictures
Alyssa Scheinson is photographer who has taken a lot of photos. She has taken photos of Morrisey, the Spinto Band, the Zutons, Blur, and many, many others. Most notably (at least for this particular viewer) she took pictures of Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian. Since I like posting pictures I thought I might post the ones I nabbed from her site. They're all lovely, so be sure to check out the full archives. Ya never know. She might have taken pictures of band you like. I'll be posting some stuff I've written later, possibly a real entry. For now, enjoy the pictures:

Flying Simon hair!!

Tom K looking incredibly sexy. I must also admit that I like him better when his hair isn't dyed. I like my men au naturale (sorry for the horrible french).
Have fun.

The Impossible Wish List
- Ricky (and we all know who I'm talking about)
- A time machine (so I could get my lab in on time as well as my history homework)
- A work ethic (so I wouldn't need the time machine)
- An apartment in London
- Kaiser Chiefs' second album
- A personal audience with the editors of This is Fake DIY and NME
- A chance to talk to Joe Strummer (though that would require the time machine, may he r.i.p.)
- The magical ability to pause time
- A teleportation machine (like on Star Trek)
- Some semblance of sanity

Have Mercy Upon Us
The weird thing about being non-religious for me is that I know a great deal about religion but don't really believe in any of it. I'm a semi-authority on the religious proceedings of the Anglican church, but have not attended a service since the beginning of November and didn't fully participate in the service anyway. So here I am, quoting scripture and not believing anybody up in an non-existent heaven is going to show me any mercy. But in my own weird way I hope that something is looking out for me because right now I really need some backup.
Another weird thing about life is how depression works, or at least works for me. I know what's going on. The apathy in everything except repeatedly listening to excerpts from Vivaldi's "Gloria," Handel's "Messiah," and "Carol of the Bells" while reading Florence of Arabia. Everyone who applied early decision is hearing from their colleges and I haven't even gotten out my applications. My fear of not getting into Mary Washington is mounting as my still uncompleted bio lab and missing history assignments loom over my head. The things that give me any sort of solace, namely KC, just make me feel guilty for my laziness so I'm listening to religious music. It all screams "Nore's fucked! Nore's going through a cycle! Nore's period sucks monkey ball's! The world hates Nore!" So I sit here reading Florence of Arabia ignoring the obvious and praying everything works out. It's like 10th and 9th and 8th and 7th grade all over again. Except I know what it is. Which, in a horrible way, make it all the worse. Not only am I stressed and apathetic but I know that things won't work out if I don't get off my lazy ass and do something about it. But I don't want to. And so goes the Mobius strip of my depression.
I want someone to tell me my life will work out, but I don't want it to be someone I know. I want it to be someone who doesn't know me, who has no history with me, so I can know that it's a completely objective opinion. Not that, that will happen. My luck isn't that good. I just want things to work out.

Ah Fuck Me...
Being the lazy, procrastinating shit that I am, I will not be turning in my bio lab tomorrow. I will however be turning it in on Wednesday, so help me god. Ah, but fuck me.
So Thanksgiving went well. Jack wasn't an obnoxious wanker which was a nice change. Molly made a good dinner and I even got some mash which was definitely nice. Over all it was a semi-relaxing time, if not a bit boring at times. Thankfully (hohoho) it was over pretty quickly and then I got to go to bed. Thank heavens.
So yeah...shall we start the twitch fest? Just two articles, but I can get pretty twitchy, especially if I have to look at one right after the other. :twitch:
Kaiser Chiefs roadtest new material
:twitch: Damn Europeans. :twitch: 'S not fair. :twitch: :twitch, twitch:
Kaiser Chiefs speak about new material Damn teases :twitch: Just release the fucking "new material" already. :twitch: 'S NOT FAIR!!! I WANT TO HEAR IT TOO!!!!!!!! :twitch: :twitch, twitch:
So that's it. I'm going to sleep now and dream horrible dreams about yeast.

Thankful
Before I go off to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving, I thought I might write up a little list of things I'm thankful. See I'm going to need to remember that I'm thankful for things because my youngest cousin drives me up the wall. So I'll have to remember that today is not about killing spoiled brats but about being thankful.
Things and People I am Thankful For (in no particular order):
Things and People I am Thankful For (in no particular order):
- Kaiser Chiefs and all things related to Kaiser Chiefs including, but limited to; Ricky, Ricky doll, LJ Ricky communities, "Modern Way," Employment, "People Need Light," and their yet to be released second album

- Yahoo! Music Engine and Jukebox
- Family without whom I wouldn't be alive or would be a hell of lot more crazy than I am now
- Diet Coke
- Solitaire

- My music collection in its entirety (which includes everything on and not on my mp3 player)
- Terry Pratchett, Julian Barnes, and Douglas Adams

A Mini MusicSecret
So I was browsing through LJ musicsecret, when I came upon these little goodies. They're out of original order, but that's to not scare you.
Nelly Furtado

Kaiser Chiefs

[Snarky comment about R: oh the face, how I love the face. The "I'm trying to look confused or some shit like that" face. :sigh:]
I agree with both, though I'm slightly ambivalent about the second. I just really want it to come out. But I fully agree with the first one. I was highly disappointed with her new album. Oh well. We'll always have "Folklore." Alright...I'm off to play solitaire till dinner to avoid my grandmother. Have a lurvely night.

If...
"If you aren't going to college next fall, you won't be living here."
"Next fall, if everything works out, it will just be the two of us."
Some parents have awful relationships with their kids. My father for instance has an absolutely horrible relationship with his parents. It seems like most of my friends, both present and past, have had bad relationships with friends. One friend of mine's sister was sent off to boarding school at the beginning of high school because her parents didn't want to deal with a teenage girl. Although I don't know for a certainty, I suspect the same thing happened to her. I've always thought that my relationship with my parents, though not optimal, is better than most. I'm not like one friend of mine who fights with her father constantly. As always, things could be worse between myself and my parents. But how am I suppose to take comments like the above? And after saying these things, mum doesn't even take into account how I must feel and starts blabbering about whatever the hell she wants. I highly doubt she would have said something like to Sophs. She claims not to be a pessimist, but I think she is at her core. It hurts to think that my own mother thinks I won't make it into college. I worry so often that I won't be accepted by anyone because they'll know that I'm crazy and have horrible work ethic. I keep wanting to put off applying because I don't want to know what my future holds. I want to be able to keep imagining that everything will work out well for me. I doubt myself and my abilities so much that having mum say those things...it kills me. I know that my relationship with her has been fairly good considering everything and comparing it to other people's relationships with their mothers (like my mum's relationship with her's) and that makes the if's and unintentionally cruel statements so much worse. I know that's she's just trying to get me to do what I have to, but goddammit couldn't she find another way? Doesn't she realize how much it hurts that she seems to have no confidence in me? But I can't retaliate against her. So I just sit here and stew. Goddamn her.

:sigh:
This post asks the question that I would love to know the answer to: How tall is Ricky? My fantasy answer is 6ft, thus making Nick, Simon, and Whitey giants and Peanut still short. In reality that's probably not true, but a girl can dream right? Anyway, make sure to take a look at the piccie for I find it very sexy. Though it's almost impossible to find a picture where I don't find him at least good looking. [random side note: this is how to be a fangirl. Really. All the other fangirls just don't measure up to me.] So yeah. I wish I knew how tall he is. :sigh:
In any event, I have to finish my part of cleaning house. As if Sophs doesn't know what our house usually looks like. But alas and alack grandparents are coming too, so I guess it's kind of for them too. Poo.

Mall Rat
Things Nore Likes To Do...
- Listen to Regina Spektor and finally figure out why everyone in the music blogosphere thinks she's such a darling. (No seriously, listen to "On the Radio" and try not to fall for her vocals. "Apres Moi" is like an instrumental explosion, so beautiful.)
- Read funny articles that are funny because they're so true and realizing that the if I could be one person in the whole world it would be a British guy. (If you feel like punching Bono in the face go read this. And yes, I do want to be Kirkland Ciccone, and not because his name is Kirkland.)
- Reading funny "imagined monologues" and laughing because they too are so true. (This is what I think Dave, Mark, Simon, and Whitey think of their respective lead singers. At least it would be really amusing if that is what they thought of them. But really it's just amusing because at one point or another it was probably true with any band.)
- Spend nearly four hours at the mall, most of which was spent in all the major department stores and trying to navigate around the hoards at the mall.
- Hear a song from "Hopes and Fears" in the lingerie section of Macy's. Where little old ladies shop. Little old ladies who could never possibly appreciate Keane like me.
- Try on clothing in nasty changing rooms with horrible lighting and feeling horribly fat.
Internet, my Internet
1. How much time do you spend on the Internet daily?
Too much. Far too much.
2. What are your favorite 3 websites?
I have to pick three? Are you fucking kidding me? Well, I guess Monkey Blaster Entertainment (Clicken Gold), Lily Allen (for the music and silly forum people), and LiveJournal (my friends page needs constant checking just incase someone decided to update one of the Kaiser Chief communities).
3. Do you eat at your computer?
Sometimes. I mostly drink diet Coke though. Sometimes chocolate.
4. Pick one and why - Reading the news online or in a newspaper?
Since I don't read the news can I pick NPR?
5. How many people are on your instant messenger buddy list?
Hmmm...AIM...um two. Sophs and my mum. Which is very sad. So here! Have my screname: indiebritroker
Umm...it's almost Thanksgiving. I'm collating a Christmas list of sorts, which mostly involves finding BBC tv series. :) I'll have something to do over Christmas. Anyway...have a nice weekend.

Stupid college shit...
"Self-description: VERY IMPORTANT! Describe the way you see yourself. We want to know who you think you are. Please include all positive attributes you feel would be of interest to college admissions counselors who are trying to evaluate your suitability for their campus and your probability of academic success. You might cover such issues as study habits, academic strengths, your role in family, your personal values, character strengths, goals in life and anything else you feel would help us characterize you better in your recommendation letter. (Use back if needed)."
I fucking hate this. How the hell am I suppose to describe myself without making me sound like a loon?! I mean honestly. Mum can say I'm not obsessed all she likes, but really we both know I'm obsessed. How do I go about explaining that at the moment my whole life is wrapped up in trying to get into college so I can then leave the college as soon as is allowable? I like Mary Wash because of it's study abroad program. I could give a rat's ass about the rest of it. :sigh: Positive attributes...I'm a dedicated fangirl? I spend hours and hours obsessing over the fact that I might have to get a myspace account so I can better keep track of a band I like? For Christ's sake, what the hell am I suppose to say? I lived in a bubble for the first twelve years of my life and now have a very warped sense of how the world works? Or better yet, I yell at people I've never met and have no chance of meeting for doing things that I don't "like." Like touring some place other than the metro DC area. :nods: Oh yeah, college admissions people will love that. God...It was enough that I had to write some stupid ass essays, why on earth do I have to write more of the same shit for my counselor? Why can't she just rely on other people? Other people seem to have a much easier time describing me. But no...my stupid bitch of a counselor needs me to describe myself. :shakes head: So stupid and annoying. Oh well. It's better than trying (and failing miserably) to memorize the "To be or not to be" speech from Hamlet. Off I go...

RICKY DOLL!!
So somewhere in here I mentioned Ricky doll. Well my friends I now have living proof of Ricky doll. I would like to point out that I did the colouring of the hair. Everything else was done by Mar, which is why I'm now hispanic. Huzzah!! Ricky Doll:

That's it. Have a nice day.

The Long and Winding Road to Pictures
So, after typing in the url for Lily Allen's site one too many times I decided to add the link to my "1 Site Bands" folder. Now I can be lazy when I want to listen to her music! So anyway, while I was listening to her music I was looking around the site, looking at the various pictures and other such things. Which is when I discovered these pictures. Ms. Allen certainly has a style of her own, one which I'm not going to be copying any time soon. After looking at some of the pictures, I noticed that the gallery was alphabetized and so thought to myself "Mayhaps this photographer will have pictures of Kaiser Chiefs. I know they've been to Paris before." So I scrolled down and did in fact find Kaiser Chief photos. Positively thrilled was I, especially since the majority of them are of R. So, having noticed that right below KC were pics of Kasabian, I looked through some of those which was when I discovered that there were dates. So I went back to the Kaiser Chief photos and discovered that these photos are from their first show in their first tour in support of their yet to be released second album. I was even more thrilled by this than I was by simply finding them. Unfortch I was cleaning my room so I haven't gotten a chance to write about any of this until now. So go look at all the lovely photos. I'm going to finish practicing my clarinet.

Hot Friday Five
At the moment I'm listening to Hot Club de Paris who are a fabulous British band. Hence the "hot" in the title of this entry. Anyway...onto the Friday Five! Some of this answers are highly predictable. And by highly predictable, I mean really fucking obvious. Onwards and upwards!
1) If you had to move 100 miles or more to the north, east, west, or south, which would you choose, where would you end up, and what's so great about there?
:thinks very hard: LONDON!!!!!! LONDON, LONDON, LONDON, LONDON!!!! And if you have to ask what's so great about London, then you haven't been paying attention. Because everything about London is great. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. :smiles:
2) Do you have a favorite stretch of highway or byway for driving, touring, or wandering?
My personal favourite place to go driving is I-81 because it's so amazingly tranquil and the scenery is gorgeous. And it's incredibly straight. :nods: 81 is my interstate highway.
3) Are you happier to start a trip or return home?
I get excited about going on trips but then I get really excited about going home. So, I'm happier with both. Most of the middle of trips are only so, so. This is mainly because I have to be highly social which I loathe and despise. So yeah...I like starting and ending trips.
4) Plane, train, automobile, bicycle, or foot?
Train, mos def. Cars are too cramped, as are planes, which also smell. Bicycle is just asking for trouble and does foot. So yeah, I love trains. They're perfect. Not too cramped (for the most part) and they don't smell funny in the same way that planes do. Also, you can see all the scenery that is there to see. Besides there's a band called i LiKE TRAiNS.
5) Do you overplan or underplan your travels? (Assume that "no" is not a valid answer.)
No. :giggles: I'm so evil. I don't normally plan my travels, so I can't really say.
That's it. See ya laters.

MG!!
:sigh: So I discovered Weebl and Bob through a guy I knew at Stu/possibly Avers. In any event I love them because it's all about pie and it's british and...it's really fuckin' hi-larious. Definantly would highly recommend anything on the the weebl stuff site. Tis very funny overall. Especially the series having to do with the moon. In any event, the point is Weebl and Bob. They're obsessed with pie. Mmmmm, pie. They've had many adventures, but this latest one...oh it tops them all. Because it takes and popular song and makes it into a song about PIE!! Yes, I know. Weebl and Bob are bringing pie back. Just like some other dip is trying to bring sexy back. Me? I'm bringing nothing back. Go watch!!!
In other news, I have some recommendations:
Lily Allen!! All you have to do is click the little track titled "Littlest Things" and it will start playing all the wonderful music available to you on the little...music thing. Take a listen. Personally, I can't stop. She's brilliant, ace, and lots of other good things. All the songs are also brilliant, ace, and lots of other good things. Too bad you can't here "Alfie." That's my personal favourite. Oh well. Go listen to the other tracks.
Actually that's it...I know lame. So without further ado, here's a lovely picture drawn by a friend of mine. She has titled it "Thing 8" so I shall do the same. Here's "Thing 8"

I personally like the tongue thing. Night y'all.

:grins:
:manic grin: I'm not crazy...honest. :continues the scary grin:
Some other pictures of R to cleanse the pallet. :manic grin: They're from Iceland. :rocks back and forth: How can a person go from this to this, this, or this in any amount of time? Wait...or the reversal actually. Men are strange!! I'm going to go check on baked ziti. Have a nice night.

Today in a Numerical List
- I voted. I'm very proud of myself for not really screwing up the whole thing. I have the little sticker and everything to prove that I voted. So yeah...I voted!!!
- I interviewed at Hollins and was repeatedly told by my admissions counselor how glad she was that I came back. Hollins is still Hollins. I saw the music building. :nods: Is it horrible that I still really want to go to Mary Wash? Especially since I just called it Mary Wash instead of Mary Washington? God...I really want to go to college, but picking is too fucking hard. But yeah, the interview went well. Hollins is Hollins.
- I'm home now. I have discovered the following things: The NME yearbook is coming out sometime soon. And this picture shouldn't exists. Ya know why? 1) Ricky and beard = Nore screaming like a stuck pig and 2) I'm secretly obsessed with Dr. Who because I don't watch it so...more screaming basically. And who isn't surprised that Oasis is interviewing their proteges Kasabian? But who is surprised that the Kooks are interviewing Blondie? The correct answer for both questions would be me. Yeah...I was right when I said during my interview that I spend way too much time obsessing over the small things. God I'm a freak!! Anyway...the yearbook is coming and it's only just November. Huzzah for ignoring this month completely!!

The Pitfalls of Procrastination
So I'm about...33% done with my internal assessment. I've done the easy parts basically. The hard part is coming up, so I've started procrastinating like there's no tomorrow. See, as far as I'm concerned, the paper isn't due until Wednesday at 11:59pm and if I've got the easy bits done, I'm doing pretty well. Besides, Mar's party isn't until 6 (to which I will not be showing up on time) so I figure that's about...4 hours to finish this thing for the most part. I mean, if I get section C completely done and most of section D, I can get the rest of section D and section E done on Wednesday before the deadline. Ideally (which is what I'm aiming for) I'll get all of sections C, D, and most of section E done today so I can do the evil nit picky stuff on Wednesday or tomorrow. Really though...I've got time. I write pretty quickly when I put my mind to it. Besides, section C is really pretty easy and section E is just evil because it's the conclusion. The only really hard part is section D, which still confuses me somewhat. Ugh...at least I've finished my biblio though. The really easy parts are all done. :sigh:
So...The Blood Arm, Lily Allen, and the Young Knives are all cds that I want but can't get because they haven't been released here, as in the States. I have no idea when the Blood Arm or the Young Knives are releasing their LPs here, but I know when Lily Allen is releasing hers (February.) So, yeah. :sigh:
I'm going to do section C now. get it done. Yes. that's what I'll do. Section C. Now.

Friday Five is Back Again
So I'm doing Friday Five this week for the hell of it. Plus this week they asked stuff about music, so I have to answer.
1) What was the first CD/Record/Album/Artist you ever bought and what format was it in? (Vinyl/Cassette/CD/MP3 Download)?
I think it was B*Witched and it was a CD, though honestly I don't remember.
2) How do you usually listen to music? (iPod/Walkman/Stereo/Radio)
I usually listen either through my mp3 or Yahoo Music Jukebox
3) What is your favorite genre of music and why?
My favourite genre you say? Umm...British rock music? I guess that covers about 75% of what I listen to. Then there's the miscellaneous stuff...so yeah I guess British
rock.
4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music televion?
I like music videos because it means I get to see Ricky (or Alex and Alex or Tom and Tom or whomever) and stare longingly at him (not true for Alex and Alex or Tom, though true for the other Tom) {bonus points if you can figure out who the hell I'm talking about}
5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are?
No. :shrugs: They don't nominate enough good (aka my) music. It's mostly crap. But maybe that's because I only listen to indie...hmmm.
Tom and Tom and Alex and Alex. 1 Ricky, 1 Michael, 1 Keith, 1 Damian. Oh it's so fun knowing the first names of all the lead singers of my favourite bands. Such joy.

An Annotated Email from Kaiser Chiefs
Hello Everyone
Time for a word in your ears (or inboxes) We hope you've been keeping well. Our new album is recorded, we're mixing in London at the moment. Nick spoke to Billboard last week about things. Here's that interview. [yes the hyperlinks don't work, but don't worry, it doesn't really matter]
So what's there to talk about...The recent past.
We had an ace time in Iceland at Airwaves. We would and will recommend Iceland to anyone, apart from the cost of everything, it's one of the best places we've ever been. Thanks to all of you who travelled, particularly if you came halfway across the world, like those of you from Japan [lucky sons of bitches who have far too much time on their hands]. It was great to play live again, apologies for the non-deliberate mistakes, we'd not played for 8 weeks [umm...]! The day after the show, we went for a trip to the Blue Lagoon with The Cribs. Slightly surreal, but pictures of us all in our swimming gear are now out there... somewhere [WHERE!?! I want to see!!!].
Now the present: At the moment we're spending our time between rehearsing for the European shows and mixing the Album [grrr...]with Stephen Street and Cenzo Townsend in London. Last week we rolled up to The Good, The Bad & the Queen at BBC Electric Proms, which we all thought was ace & we met Paul Simenon which was brilliant.
Next: See you in Europe, the dates are below, they start next week in Paris. They're Sold Out, apart from Milan and Greece which have only just gone on sale (and Transmusicales is a Festival). We've got great supports along for the ride, The Pigeon Detectives in Paris, Antwerp, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Madrid and Milan - their single 'Found Out' is out on Nov 6th. Go and buy it [I would if I could]...it's brilliant and is Zane Lowe's Record Of The Week on Radio 1 this week. We've got Mumm-Ra [mum who?]with us in Germany for shows in Berlin and Munich - their debut single 'Out Of The Question' has just been released. Joining us for our show in Copenhagen are Danes Figurines and finally CCS (Cansei De Ser Sexy for those of you that speak Brazilian) [except it's not Brazilian it's Portguese, since there's no such thing as Brazilian] will be playing with us at Transmusicales Festival in Rennes, France on Dec 9th
We've also finally got our MySpace site to run ourselves [NOOO!!!]. It's been announced on the main site but there's some new old songs up there, live versions of Hits basically. Go on be our friend and all that. Our MySpace and Website will be getting brought up to date over the next couple of months as well. In fact we'll have a brand new website, and will be getting far more involved in our MySpace site ourselves with exclusive 'making of the album' films and video diaries from the Road [damn you, I hate myspace, you, you...people].
In January we'll be back in USA [got all excited], details to come, but we'll be playing a few small shows, one in LA and one in New York [and probably not in DC, poops] right at the end of the month to unveil the new record. We're also planning to do the same in Japan and Australia before the end of March. Again...watch this space [what space?], details to follow.
Final thing, I expect some of you will have seen Glastonbury: The Film (directed by Julian Temple), we're dead proud that 'Na Na Na Na Naa' from Glastonbury 2005 is on the DVD. The first song from one of our favourite shows ever.

"And It Looks Like We Might Have Made It...
Yes, it looks like we've made it to the end." So says Blur, and I trust them. But anyway, tomorrow's the last day of the quarter mes copines. Yes I've some how made it through the first quarter of my senior year without dying. Huzzah! Yeah...that's the big news. End of a quarter. :nods: I need to stop paraphrasing Blur song titles. Kind of scary...
Nothing much happening. I should be working on my :curses lots and lots: Interactive notebook. :curses some more: Thank goodness I finished my socio homework during lunch/IB music. Otherwize I would be so SOL. But yeah...:curses:
Speaking of Blur...I find this sad. Can't the rest of the guys just accept that Graham doesn't want to be apart of their party anymore? And on a side note, what about all of Damon's side projects? I wunderbar.
TRACY JACKS!! I wish I could name my son that. :sigh: Yeah...I'm bored. See ya later

A Spam of Pics
Yeah, I'm uber-lazy. I should be working, but I'm not. Ya know why? Because I'm uber-lazy. I'll work after this. Honest! Anywho, felt like spamming you guys with lurvely pictas. Because I'm nice like that. And bored. Nice and bored. Besides, how else can I amuse myself?
The Requisite Ricky Section (Ricky, Ricky, Ricky...)
He's so small and blonde. Awwwwww. Oh and yes this does make me this (---) much closer to being a stalker. Mind you I didn't find the picture, but still.
Awwww. That's all I have to say. That and he has really nice nails.
Angry Rick. Ricky Smash!! At least that's what I imagine. :shakes head:
One more!! Cuz ya know it's fun!
This picture always reminds me of something Mr. Sharp use to say: "Good job Bob." Not that he ever said it to me but this pic still reminds me of it.
Other Picture Section!!! (Tom M., WAS, random poster thing, OK Go, that sort of thing)
Damian (on the right) and Tim (on the left) from OK Go. Sexy black and white. Also, notice the Franz Ferdinand poster.
Mystery Jets Tour Poster. Tis pretty.
Tom of Kasabian at the Electric Proms. It's a British thing, that I didn't get to see. And Tom looks like he's lecturing the audience or something like that. Very sexy indeed.
Amazingly enough I am all three of them combined when I'm at school. Lots of pencils, sometimes sleeping, other times studying. I am WAS!!
That's it loves. I'm going to work now!

A Much Needed Update
:sigh: So the past few weeks have been crappy. Not even kind of crappy. Just plain old crappy. I've been "working" my ass off trying to get my grades to a somewhat respectable level while also dealing with the fact that I'm a horrible procrastinator/lazy shit. Things have been so-so on that front, but I have been having a wonderful time being utterly carefree with my friends. I've also been pigging out on muffins. Mmmm tasty, tasty muffins. The school thing though, seriously, has been tough shit since my interim which was towards the beginning of the month which, needless to say, has been why I haven't been updating. Or if I update it's piddly shit like this or this or even better this. I apologize for that. I do realize that almost no one reads this, but I should be better. It makes the world go 'round ya know? Something like that. Basically (and now negating everything I've said up to this point) the first two months of school have been shit. Hopefully the next two will go better. I really need them to go better. So yeah...life sucks and then ya die right?
So...what, besides school sucking ass, has been going on? Not much actually. School and school sucking ass has been the majority of my life. Jackie's all moody and Loghman and I are on normal terms (sort of, I'll explain later.) I've been added to the inner circle of the Creative Writing class, which means I get to know about all the drama and shit that happens when I'm not around. It's actually kind of cool because I get to be all lookey-lookey at the great book of power which holds all submissions for the literary magazine and whether things have been approved or not. And Mrs. Beauchemin-Anastasio is all nicey-nice to me. All in all, Creative Writing is my zen class. Actually blue days (odd period days) are the best days. Green days (even period days) have their moments but really I enjoy blues days a whole hell of a lot better. Besides I'm not doing as crappy in those classes as I am in my green day classes. In any event, I've also become buddy-buddy with the editor (Lauren) who likes Keane and is planning on being an ex-pat. Whether it's an English ex-pat or some other country, I've yet to ascertain, but she likes Keane. She gets brownie points, mos def. Also Jasmine and I have been ridiculously silly in English which is really nice. I'll eventually upload some pictures, but lets just say...Ricky doll. :giggles to herself: All in all the social aspect of my life is pretty chill. Except for the minor drama today. Which (thank God) has been abated. So, to the drama!
Before continuing please read this. While it only minorly explains the drama of last spring it pretty much explains the mind set which is rather important for the next bit. So, the next bit!
This week was Homecoming week so today was suppose to be the game. Sadly it is raining and has been since around 5pmish so the game got postponed. In any event, earlier today, inbetween history and chorus (the schedule was weird) Loghman asked me to the football game. And he said he would pay for the tickets. My hindbrain totally freaks but I say yes because what else could I say? So I'm freaking, talk to Dr. Farber who's ecstatic but tells me not to make a bigger deal of it than it is. So I come back to school, go to IB music which is totally layed back and then off to the pep rally. God I hate pep rallies. I also would like to say that high school isn't the best years of your life and if it is you have a very sad life. And everyone in my graduating class who were all spirited this week are hypocrites. In any event I shore up plans with Loghman about what time we'll meet at the school and what happens if it's raining. Towards the end of the pep rally Coach Trout announces that the Homecoming parade has been cancelled and the game postponed. I silently cheer. Jasmine and Alex, who I was sitting with, look really confused. I briefly explain. This is the longer explanation. So yeah. He finally actually asked me out. His timing, as always, is inpeccable. Thankfully it didn't pan out so he'll just have to wait till later to try the whole football thing again. So ha. I will remain single for all eternity!
Anyway...I've got work to do. Tomorrow mind you, but I still have work. I'll try and update after this week, maybe during, but I doubt it. I'll definantly update once the new quarter starts.
Sweeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaarrrr!!!! Baaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Shuuuuuuuuunn! :)

WTF?!?!?!? Oh and by the way...who's not suprised about the whole Ricky thing? Not me! Oh well...I guess new news is better than no news. I will say this, they have kept their promise as far as I'm concerned. So good job boys. Good job.
So that's all the news that's fit to print. Have a nice night.

Umm...
Tired. Very tired. Have to finish stupid lab. Immediately going to bed there after. Uh, so tired. Evil lab making me think. Grrr...
Right, so. SAT II's went fairly well. Not expecting spectacular scores, but not horrible ones either. :knocks on wood: In any event, I have also decided that I must go to Mary Washington. I really have to go there. I had an awesome time in other words. Just, awesome. So yeah. Must get into Mary Wash. Must, must, must.
Airwaves festival on Saturday. Which means KC has about four days to finish the next album. Otherwise I will have full rights to call them liars. I will have no problem with this because I'm a bitter old woman. :nods: Oh yeah, I'm seriously fucked up. But I spell things the British way so I'm cool. Fucked up, but cool. Anyway, four days I tell you, four days!
Lily Allen!! Omg!!
"Alfie"
Ooooo deary me,
My little brother's in his bedroom smoking weed,
I tell him he should get up cos it's nearly half past three
He can't be bothered cos he's high on THC.
I ask him very nicely if he'd like a cup of tea,
I can't even see him cos the room is so smoky,
Don't understand how one can watch so much TV,
My baby brother Alfie how I wish that you could see.
[Chorus]
Oooooo I only say it cos I care,
So please can you stop pulling my hair.
Now, now there's no need to swear,
Please don't despair my dear Mon frere.
Ooooo Alfie get up it's a brand new day,
I just can sit back and watch you waste your life away
You need to get a job because the bills need to get paid.
Get off your lazy arse,
Alfie please use your brain
Surely there's some walls out there that you can go and spray,
I'm feeling guilty for leading you astray,
Now how the hell do you ever expect that you'll get laid,
When all you do is stay and play on your computer games?
[Chorus]
Oh little brother please refrain from doing that,
I'm trying to help you out so can you stop being a twat.
It's time that you and I sat down and had a little chat,
And look me in the eyes take off that stupid fitted cap.
[Chorus]
Please don't despair

No, Not A Real Post
Yeah...suckers. Thought you'd actually get something out of me. :thinks: Why am I being so mean spirited? Oh well...here's some bs for my history paper that's due in 5 hours and 48 minutes. Stupid, stupid, evil Ms. Croon and her stupid evil turnitin.com thing, evilness. Ugh I hate the woman.
Intro- "watershed presidencies"
Set up comparison: Wilson = demo progressive (hypocrite), Roosevelt = repub progressive (slightly less hypocritical)
Basic background info
Roosevelt - "speak softly and carry big stick"
Discuss early history (ashama, trying to be his dad){1par} then move onto how this was seen his policy and later actions (Sp-Am war, imperialism){1-2par}
Discuss repercussions on rest of twentieth century{1-2par}
Wilson - God's tool
Same as Roosevelt, with emphasis on religious overtones in policy decisions
Conclusion - wrap up by saying how the two were alike (progressive, international world view) and how their different from each other (everything else), explain how they are both different models for a modern presidency
Ugh...now I just have to write it. Poo.

Better
My nose and my fingers are freezing, but Rick's singing so I'm happy. It's funny, today I talked to Farber about my recent feelings of frustrations and about how technically if I dated someone who is 17 it would be pedophilia, decided that my internal fantasies could screw themselves and have been listening to my entire collection of Kaiser Chiefs in my Yahoo Jukebox account for the past hourish and damnnit if I don't feel better. Yeah, I'm weird, I know. But it isn't it nice? I think it's nice.
I found out today that my selection for representing the 70's is actually from the 1980 which kind of sucks. I've been trying to find someone (anyone) from the 70's to be representative of that era. My main concern is that I won't be able to find one that isn't the Kinks. Damn them for spanning so many eras! Damn punk rock for not starting until the late 70's! Damn you all!! But yeah...The Jam came along the same time as the Clash, the Ramones, Elvis Costello and the Sex Pistols. Freaky (though not really.)
My parents have decided that I would make a really good bartender. :nods: Yes friends when I turn 21 I'll be the one giving you your beer or martini. Best not piss me off between now and then.
:sighs: Oh Farber is a crazy, crazy man...

Mechanical
So I haven't had a real post in awhile. Sorry about that. I've been in a bit of a mood, so writing hasn't been foremost in my mind. Actually playing solitaire has. In any event I'm feeling a bit better and thought I might update a bit more comprehensively than I have in the past week or so. Not that there's so much to say. I mean...my life just isn't that interesting. But I'll try.
So I've been listening to Lily Allen like non-stop for the past few days. A friend of mine suggested this site called radio.blog.club which is totally neato. I've decided that if I can't find it on Yahoo, this site is my backup. So that's good.
Bleh...Mostly I've just been feeling overwhelmed by life. I don't actually have that much work, but it's like any work is too much. I guess I'm just not pushing myself. I don't know, maybe I just have a severe case of early onset senioritis. I think the most annoying part is that I'm self editing this journal. I know I am. It's like I have no where to vent anymore. I don't want to "offend" anyone. Or, well, one person. Not that I think she would actually care, but nonetheless. I just hate feeling like this and I'm just tired of not being able to tell anyone. Mum always overreacts, Dad doesn't give a shit because his life is "worse" than mine is, Sophs isn't here and I don't feel close enough to anyone I know to talk about this. It just sucks. I just want someone other than Farber to talk to, like really talk. Not fluffy shit. God. No one gets it! I'm not a sounding board anymore, I don't want to be that. And no, I don't want you're opinion either, please just let me vent. It's just so frustrating.

Everything's Just Wonderful
So today turned out to be kind of crappy. The weekend wasn't so bad, except when I felt like running machetes through everyone in the whole auditorium. Very bad mood, very bad. In any event I have some lyrics. Lily Allen. Then an article that makes me smile. First though, lyrics:
Everything's Just Wonderful (hooray sarcasam!)
Do you think, everything, everyone, is going mental,
It seems to me that it's spiralling outta control and it's inevitable,
Now don't you think,
This time is yours, this time is mine,
Its temperamental,
It seems to me, we're on all fours,
Crawling on our knees,
Someone help us please
Oh Jesus Christ almighty,
Do I feel alright? No not slightly,
I wanna get a flat I know I can't afford it,
It's just the bureaucrats who won't give me a mortgage,
Well it's very funny cos I got your fuckin money,
And I'm never gonna get it just because of my bad credit
Oh well I guess I mustn't grumble,
I suppose that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Chorus
Oh yeah, I'm fine,
Everything's just wonderful,
I'm having the time of my life.
Don't you want something else,
Something new, than what we've got here,
And don't you feel it's all the same,
Some sick game and it's not insincere,
I wish I could change the ways of the world,
Make it a nice place
Until that day, I guess we stay,
Doing what we do
Screwing who we screw
Why can't I sleep at night,
Don't say it's gonna be alright,
I wanna be able to eat spaghetti bolognaise,
and not feel bad about it for days and days and days.
In the magazines they talk about weight loss,
If I buy those jeans I can look like kate moss,
Oh no it's not the life I chose,
But I guess that's the way that things go,
Chorus x2
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba etc.
Oh Jesus Christ almighty,
Do I feel alright? No not slightly,

"Emo is Dead," so says Tom.
Have a nice night. I'm going to go hide a hole.

Lily Allen
So I know I've mentioned her before, but here's a little update. Since I've heard her two British singles ("Smile" and "LDN") I've really been wanting to hear the rest of her repetoire. So, in desperation, I googled "Lily Allen + american release" and came up with this article. Hooray for pitchfork and all, but what is it with February? I mean honestly, it's cold, it's shorter than all the other months and it has Valentine's day in it. In any event, I also feel rather stupid because I've been checking for Lily Allen on Yahoo! and kept coming up with nothing and then all of a sudden today there was the electronic EP. Oh well. At least now I can listen to the bitter sarcasam of "Smile" all the time. No longer will I have to troll through Pop Now to try and hear it. Besides, her site streams some of the songs off of the LP so I can listen to that as well. Isn't it nice? I think so. Now if I could just find that Kaiser Chiefs cover she did and everything would be complete...
My Number 1
Alison Goldfrapp has a lovely voice. And the song "Number 1" fits in perfectly with my current mood. :sigh: Someone please find me a guy...I don't want to make the effort, but I want one nonetheless. :sigh:
So let's get this link party started...
Kaiser Chiefs...when they were alive. The funny thing is, is that this set has far less emphasis on Rick than the original set from last fall. Mind you Peter Hill is no dope, so maybe that's why. But it's always nice seeing the rest of the band. Even when I say I hate them, I really love them all. The really funny thing is that last October, when that tour happened, I remember bitching and moaning about not being able to seem them, even though I had seen them with Foo Fighters earlier in the month. Ah, even when things seem to change they stay exactly the same
Cheese? Now I love cheese. This evident my repeating that I love cheese. Because I love cheese. But actually going into "independent cheese making" seems a bit much to me. Maybe I don't love cheese as much as Mr. James. Or maybe Mr. James makes enough off of royalties from Blur that he doesn't have to worry about how fucking crazy he sounds. Again, maybe it's just me, I don't know. And just incase you've forgotten, the article kindly reminds us that Kaiser Chiefs suck at life.
Anyway, that's it kids. Here's some eye candy that makes me cry...

I Know
Possibly one of the oddest songs in my collection, but I fucking love it. On a side note, Mike Skinner looks fucking scary.
"When You Wasn't Famous"
Ahhh see... Right see the thing that's got it all f*cked up now is camera-phones.
How the hell am I supposed to be able to do a line in front of complete strangers, when I know they've
all got cameras?
When you're a famous boy, it gets really easy to get girls,
it's all so easy you get a bit spoilt.
But, when you try to pull a girl, who is also famous too,
it feels just like when you wasn't famous.
The celebrity pages in papers don't tell tales that are always to the line of the truth.
It's 'til a line (of coke) at which most likely you'll have the time, or enough finance to sue.
Which is why it's so frightening buying papers in the morning fearing the next Mike Skinner scoop.
'Cos I used to believe what I read, so now I know that others will believe that it's true
But I realised, with you the truth could be, a whole lot worse than the flack.
My whole life I never thought I'd see, a pop star smoke crack.
And I must admit I was quite shocked, with that thing you did with me on my back.
But, outside in the lobby, I shouldn't have laughed when you slapped that man.
When you're a famous boy, it gets really easy to get girls,
it's all so easy you get a bit spoilt.
But, when you try to pull a girl, who is also famous too,
it feels just like when you wasn't famous.
You were so much fun, I really got to like you more than you liked me,
I really hoped that you'd stay.
Considering the amount of prang you'd done, you looked amazing on cd...uk.
You learn dances, do promo, cameras flashing, get in the van, zoom away (reeeoow).
I wake up high, (unknown) feel hung over and sorry for my doomed day.
But I know I got a bit close to you, and that you found it f*cking boring.
You taught me so much about how to deal with the (?).
And what version of a rumour would be next day everyone's story of me.
You taught me all the realities and "turn the page & ignore 'em".
When you're a famous boy, it gets really easy to get girls,
it's all so easy you get a bit spoilt.
But, when you try to pull a girl, who is also famous too,
it feels just like when you wasn't famous.
Anyway, I had to rest my beer hat, delete my dealer's number and unroll my bank notes.
And we were on borrowed time anyway, what with the daily toilet papers not knowin'.
And I knew that when the people who thought they knew you, when they found out, I would've been mocked.
Which is ironic, 'cos in reality, standing next to you I look f*cking soft.
Whenever I see you on MTV, I can't stop my big wide smile.
And past the "children's appeal", I see the darkness behind.
We both know the scratches on my back, much better than the alludes and lies.
I miss the bitchin' and shoutin', but I'm glad I got out in time.

But, when you try to pull a girl, who is also famous too,

You can't keep f*cking popstars, we've got a f*cking business to run. There are industry repercussions,
Michael!... I know

Monday, Monday...
That's a good song by the way. Also entirely true, but I digress...
So today and yesterday I've been listening to the UK Launchcast Pop Now station. This mostly consists of reopening the page once my five skips run out because in all honesty I'm not much of a pop person. I have heard both of Lily Allen's singles (Smile and LDN) and I'm interested to hear what the rest of the album sounds like. Mind I don't know when she'll be releasing the album in the states, but I'll just wait. I've also heard some other cool songs. Nice change from my usual Indie Bands playlist. I must admit though listening to this station (and Indie Bands) confirms my belief that I really belong in the UK. Either that or I should pay more attention to the radio. Not sure which, though I prefer the former to the latter. Less blame on me. In any event, a nice little exploration for Nore.
MUN went well on Saturday. My simulation group passed a working paper which was super nifty. Loghman and I talked like semi-normal people. I don't honestly think it will go back to the way it was last year, but something is better than nothing. He was suprised to hear that I want to be a music journalist. He also said "so you're not going to settle down?" which I didn't get to really reply to because we were switching rooms and my chance to respond got lost in the hubbub around us. I was sort of suprised he would say something like that, but I don't know why. In any event I had a good time on Saturday which is the most important part. Mr. Vagts' wife is nice. :nods: Good times, good times.
Well I better get to work soon. Need to do a powerpoint on how the US took over Cuba finacially at the beginning of the 20th century. Good times will surely be had by all.
I'm sad...stupid Europeans

I'm a MUNer
So tomorrow will be my first Model UN confernce. Oddly enough (except not really) it's called "My First Model UN" or "My First MUN" for short. I told Farber about this and in his opinion this would be a great oppurtunity for me to work of my flirting skills. Or as he put I should "hit on guys tomorrow." Admitedly I see where he's coming from, but why on God's green earth does he even imagine that I would do that? My crazy therapist. Anyhoo, I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow. We have to be there at 8am and the conference doesn't end until 3pm. I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into. Thankfully I'm representing Canada so my job won't be too hard. I might even get to relax a little. Enjoy myself. Flirt with guys (hahaha).
So my friendship with Loghman is starting to peeter out. I'm rather depressed about this, especially considering how annoying he's being. I can understand if he doesn't want to be "friends" like we use to be. I totally get that. I just wish he would give some sort of explanation for why he's been acting to cold towards me. I always assumed things would end when we got to college, but now seems so soon. I don't. I'm mostly just frustrated with his behaviour. I guess I'll just have to get use to it. :sigh:
Hmm...Schools going well. That's it really. I have MUN tomorrow and Loghman's turned into an iceberg. I still like my teachers. Yup...life isn't so bad really. Until later mes copines.

I'm so fucking tired. I mean I'm seriously exhausted. If I just get these quotes onto the page I can fill it out during bio tomorrow. God I'm fucking exhausted. Tomorrow was a long day for me. My computer was freaking out on me, I was all like social social, had model UN after school. Just really fucking tired. I'm def going to bed early without telling anyone. I really need to sleep. I'm fixating on the idea of my bed. Mmmm...
I read a story today in CW and Ms. Beauchemin really liked it. It felt nice not being critized. God I hate Tretheway. Stupid arrogant bastard. God...can you tell I'm tired? I can. Anyway it was nice. I liked my story. I like repetition. I like beds...

Five Years
Has it really been five years? I can remember thinking it was a hoax, a prank. God...has it really been five years?
Five years ago the Strokes released their first CD. I was slowly spiraling down into my own oblivion, trying desperately to ignore the fact. Five years ago Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Maximo Park, fuck, most of the bands I like, didn't exist, or at least not how I know them. Five years ago I was getting use to the fact that middle school wasn't going to be much better than 6th grade. If only I had known how much worse things would get. Five years ago I was truly naive.
Five years ago "Gilmore Girls" had been on for a year. The Bush administration had been around for a year as well. Five years ago reality turned into a movie. Even now it's hard to believe it happened. It seems so surreal. How does something like that happen? Real life isn't like that. Except now. Real life is like that now.
Five years ago Gorillaz came out with their self titled CD. I didn't even know who that was, let alone the band that preceded Gorillaz. There was so much I didn't know. I couldn't have known. But look at life now. What don't I know, that I will know five years from now? The world, day to day life has changed so much, so drastically in just five years. How much will have changed five years from now?
I was in chorus. Chris told the class, I didn't believe him. It wasn't until I got home that it really it me. Two buildings and thousands of people I had never heard of and never met had been destroyed. Five years ago.

MeMeHaMeFoStyCo
Here's another little experiment in doing my homework online. Except this time with more structure! Hooray! Anyway...MeMeHaMeFoStyCo!
Song: Modern Way
By: Kaiser Chiefs, from Employment
[what a huge fucking suprise that I picked that song...or for that matter any song by KC. Huge fucking suprise] [proceeds to do everything out of order because it's fun!]
Form: Intro, verse 1, verse 2, chorus, verse 3, chorus, outro
Meter: duple (possibly 2/4, could be 4/4)
Style: Rock, in the britpop vain. Heavy guitar, with keyboard and cow bell. (According to pandora.com: Electric rock instrumentation, subtle use of vocal harmony, a vocal-centric aesthetic, and minor key tonality) [all of which seem so damn obvious, I didn't think of them myself]
Harmonies: Some vocal harmonies. Background "aah" harmony at the end of verses 1 and 2 and during chorus.
Medium: Not sure at all. Recording?
Melody: Lead singers line. Aka what the lyrics are sung to.
Composer/Context: Not sure what the context is but the song was written by Nick Hodgson/Ricky Wilson (though technically it's written by the whole band, but I don't believe that for a minute)
Well there you have it folks. My IB music homework completed! Oh what joy...and I really don't believe the whole band wrote any of the songs. Maybe helped, but I wouldn't give them writing credit. Because I'm mean.

Songs! Yay! Songs!
1. If you could pick your own theme song, what would it be?
Modern Way because of the chorus
2. Now be honest...if others had to pick a song that described you, what would they choose?
Dunno...anyone have any ideas?
3. What song would be/was the first dance at your wedding?
Think About You (And I Like It) because it just sounds so damn romantic.
4. What song gets stuck in your head most often?
Depends on what I've been listening to. The toher day I had Spinto Band, and then yesterday it was Kasabian.
5. What song would you want played at your funeral?
Claire de Lune by Debussy, though I'd somehow make sure that all my favorite bands would get played as well, no matter how inappropriate it may seem.
Now, lets see...what's my favorite song today? Ugh, stupid music theory making me decide. Hmmm...Kaiser Chiefs or Franz Ferdinand...

While I Procrastinate
Here are some things to be looked at while I procrastinate. Just one more damn paragraph...just one more!
Such good boys
Load. Press "Gigs." Join me as I twitch and think evil thoughts
See, they have the right idea. Dunno if they're any good, but they have the right idea.
Dude, I totally understand that urge to repeatedly listen to the same thing twenty gazillion times in a row.
Oh Nellie McKay, you are my singing idol...along with some other people.
Well, I'm going to do my Bio. Have a nice night.

Oh Damn Me...
So, the second day went well. I like most of my teachers, though I'm worried about Ms. Croon. I just got this feeling that I'm not going to like the class. I'm sure I'll learn a lot (considering how I know nearly nothing about 20th century history) but I just feel like I'm going to be teaching myself. I don't want to have to do that my senior. In any event, all my other new classes (bio and music) went well. The new part of the school is really spiffy looking. The weird thing though, is that I kind of prefer the old parts of the school. The new part is just so shiny and new. Which is redundant, but it's so...sterile. The old part of the school has life, history. Sure, it's nice having doors and all that, but I dunno. I liked the curtains. I got use to them. Ah well, just have to get use to it. As for my IB music teacher, seems really nice, though different from Ms. Kirby (Holsten, Fuller). She has twin boys who just graduated from college, one of whom is working in the "music business." Yay for vagueness, but still intriguing. The class is about 80% bandies and 20% everyone else. In the chorus section there's only one alto. The rest are sopranos. Boo sopranos, hooray altos! What's neat though is that this one girl who I use to be friends, who's also in my history class, is in my IB music class and the reason this is all neat is because she knows who the Arctic Monkeys are. And she likes them, so all is good. Yeah, that's basically it. I'm listening to News and Tributes by the Futureheads. It's all good. Mr. Vagts' beard is a strap to keep is hair on and he has a posable Fidel Castro. I miss his class. But I have "sacred" reading time tomorrow for 45 minutes in Creative Writing so I have something to look forward to. And I am.

Update
Arctic Monkeys won the Mercury prize of 20,000 pounds which is totally unsuprising. Noenetheless, yay for the boys, they do deserve it. Mind you I'm still pissed about how last year worked out, but I'll live.
So yeah, the first day of school went well. I like all my teachers, I have lunch with Jackie which is uber awsome and that's it. The first day of school is never as interesting as you think it's going to be, soley because all the teachers do is go over syllabuses and school policy and all that kind of adminstrative stuff. We did do some stuff in English, but it was rather dry and so not very noteworthy. We actually did a little singing in chorus, where I learned that I either a) pick up on songs a lot faster than I thought I did, or b) I was the only person who had heard the song before and thus had an advantage over everyone else. I'm not sure which it is. Anyway, I think I'm going to like having chorus everyday. I must admit though it was weird being in the chorus room with the chorus people instead of the band room. Dunno, I suppose I'll get used to it. So that's it. Oh, but one last thing: So looking forward to Creative Writing. So, yay!
So many good songs and bands in the world, so little time and resources. Woe is me. :fake faint:
There's a reason it's called "embarrasing" but yeah...I've got a new song to hear :major blush:

:twitch:
Right. [pause] I'm fine. [pause] In a way. [pause] The possiblities of people dying are good, but I'm fine. [pause] And by people I mean the famous kind. :twitch: Maybe some not so famous people as well, but that's less likely. [pause] Yeah. [pause] I'm fine. [pause] Really, just fine. [pause] [longer pause] Here's a nice little article of evil. [pause] Then...oh then you'll see why my list has grown...
Franz Ferdinand reveal how much they hate me (oh I'm not self centered)
On a brighter note, Kasabian rocks at life. Unlike certain other bands I could mention. :cough:Kaiser Chiefs:cough: I'm going to play Solitaire now. Avoid reality. Ya know, live.

For F*ck Sake, Why Me?
Christ on a goddamn, motherfucking crutch. I feel like shit at the moment. I have all my resources for my history paper, thank fucking god, but I still have to write the goddamn abstract. School starts in two fucking days! Christ, christ, christ I feel like such shit. I'm nauseous and my intestines feel like they're going to explode. I'm listening to Keane for the first time since I found out about Tom going into rehab. Goddamn I hate school and it hasn't even fucking started yet. I'm cursing like a sailor I know. I'm just in such a foul mood right now. I can't even get mad at anyone. I wish I could. Something meaningless to be mad about. Alas nothing. In any event I don't know when I'll be updating again, so here are a couple of articles to gnaw on:
Pandora.com: or How Nore Discovered When the Cows Come Home
Pee Wee Herman, Rehab, and Tom from Kasabian, Oh My!
I Think my Peanut Bars and Oveltine have a special relationship...
Until sometime in the future, hopefully.
