And Now For Something With Meaning

Songs tend to go through cycles with me. I listen to a song, an album, an artist until I'm basically sick of them and then I move on. Sometimes I only listen to a song/album/artist a few times and then move on to something else. Eventually I might come back to the song/album/artist or I might not, it really depends. I listen to songs that make me feel better, that I can relate to, that I can sing to, that are by artists I consider dependable, that I've listened to a thousand times (kind of like how I watch TV, but I digress.) More often than not though I listen to things that I can relate to. As an example I like listening to the Cribs when I'm in a piss poor mood and when I'm depressed I listen to Franz Ferdinand or the Kaiser Chiefs. When I'm feeling angsty over my current marital status I listen "Every Day a Little Death" from A Little Night Music because it mirrors my angsty feelings perfectly. However today I was listening to "The Rhythm of Life" from Sweet Charity when I decided to add "Skip to the End" by the Futureheads to the playlist. Much like "Every Day a Little Death," "Skip to the End" perfectly mirrors my frame of mind right. It has in the past as well and now it's back in rotation. So here are the lyrics.

"Skip to the End" --- The Futureheads

If I could cheat,
I would skip to the end,
And decide if it's worth going through with,
Skip to the last, paragraph, just before we start,
To see the happy ending, or the broken heart.

If I could cheat,
I would skip to the end,
And decide if it's worth going through with,
Skip to the last, paragraph, just before we start,
To see the happy ending, or the broken heart,
Happy ending, or the broken heart.

[CHORUS]

(Naaa, nanananana) There's nothing to rely on, (Nana)
(Naaa, nanananana) C'mon and skip to the end, (Nana)
(Naaa, nanananana) There's nothing to fall back on, (Nana)
(Naaa, nanananana) C'mon and skip to the end.

When I cut teeth, I cut to the root,
Then the end, is absolute.
When she makes sense, I go through the roof,
Then the end, has living proof.

If I could cheat,
I would skip to the end,
And decide if it's worth going through with it,
Last paragraph, just before we start,
To see the happy ending, or a broken heart,
Happy ending, or a broken heart.
